Post-game chat: Indy is 14-0!

We're scratching up the recap. While we do that, chit-chat away. Peyton Manning is God!

Manning: 23-30 for 308 yards, 4 TDs, and 1 INT (which was off a Dallas Clark deflection). Rating: 134.4

Um, yeah. He's the MVP.

I think it's because he still sees the Colts as a finesse team

he would not give Bullit any type of credit for hitting Faulk in the NE game

by LovinBlue on Dec 18, 2009 9:41 AM EST up reply actions

Worse Defensive Performance of the year

Defense took a major step back
I don’t care if Freeny and Mathis played sparingly, they were ineffective when they were in anyway. I don’t care if there was nothing to play for. Good teams play to win the game.

Receivers were open all day and we had to load up to stop MJD in the second half.

It took Peyton’s best game of the year to win. I fear nothing with Peyton at the helm. But our Defense needs to hit the practice field and have a better showing next week against one of the best rushing offenses in the NFL to ease my discomfort

by newportVOL on Dec 17, 2009 11:18 PM EST reply actions

We missed out on 3 TOs too

Outside of the Simpson run back (which was awesome by the way)
Special teams was atrocious

IT seems like they started on their 40 every time and McAfee did not punt well

Again, injuries and fatigue

Two big games against two tough opponents vying for playoff spots in four days? We won! complaining about it is foolish and petty.

Reason why

The defense played a whale of a game less than four days ago. Also, this “horrible” performance by them shut the Jaguars out in the fourth quarter.

Listen

If this were a game that didn’t happen after the tough Denver win, I hear you. But for this team to win this kind of game speaks volumes. Several wins this year have been because the D stepped up when the O struggled.

Tonight, it was the opposite.

Ok Ok Ok

I think I’m still relieving some of the stress of that game

I just want to go for 19-0

I want this team to be meticulous about the small mistakes because I think they can. That’s what makes them so great.

I was never worried about the outcome, but the D just really frustrated me tonight

by newportVOL on Dec 17, 2009 11:27 PM EST up reply actions

Seriously

Brush anything negative off man. You, me, and anyone who actually knows a thing or two about football all know this might not be the prettiest win of the season, but it’s one of our best man. We just beat our strongest division rival in a game they desperately needed to make the playoffs and delivered with a slew of injuries. If people didn’t notice, we were kind of resting a couple players (ahem, Freeney was barely out there, anyone saying anything didn’t notice this?) and we pulled it off with a 23-30 4 TD 1 INT performance that should’ve been 24-30 0 TD. Enjoy this long break and let the morons get all upset for no reason. I know I will.

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

Exactly

I don’t know what it is, maybe the doubt all season or Caldwell’s severely gentle nudge of aggressiveness or what…but this team FIGHTS. They just seem like they want it this season and I love it.

by monstersbox on Dec 17, 2009 11:52 PM EST up reply actions

Freeney barely out there? I noticed it.

I even said that the defense got it done at half throttle. If everyone thinks about it, Indy played pretty vanilla defense. Could you imagine how pressured Gerrard would’ve been had Free and Mathis been out there every down?

Powers was out too, IIRC. And this team is missing Bob Sanders on the year. Yet, they zeroed the Jags in the 4th quarter. Held the Jags when they had to, and wasn’t even trying that hard. I’d say they won despite playing at less than 100% intensity. That says a lot about Indianapolis.

Yeah there were a couple of runs where Sanders would of blown MJD up and Bullitt didn’t take the right angle and MJD got extra yards

by MarkFive05 on Dec 18, 2009 12:03 AM EST up reply actions

Yeah.

MJD would still get some yards because the fullback would open the line or handle the linebacker, but man, once Sanders would get there… it’d be the Muscle meets the Midget. It’d be carnage.

by skywalker on Dec 17, 2009 11:20 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah, but I got the sense that they weren't really trying

For example: Freeney and Mathis were used situationally. Also: They didn’t stack the box, they played pretty big cushion zones… I don’t think they were showing much on D with this game. I honestly think they were only at half throttle on that unit.

This statement is valid

Would’ve had total momentum. Score probably would’ve been less. Error was there though, and we recovered awesome-style so the ends justify the means in this case. Stellar response to an error that probably won’t happen very often the rest of the Dallas’ career.

He had his 7 4rth Quarter Comeback, an NFL Single Season Record, had his 10th season of over 4000 yards, and had his 9th 300 yard game as well as his 4rth game of the season with 4 or more TD passes.

Alright, I guess I wasn't watching the same game everyone else was

I was going through the stats and yeah, I can’t back my argument up at all. I thought he was making bad reads on some plays and those punts in the 4th were bad and I thought it was because of those reads that he could of cost us the game.

But obviously not! lol

You might have that one almost INT to Dallas sticking out

I know I did when I saw it in real time. But when they showed it in slow motion, I just realized that the LB just made a fantastic play with the break and read he made on that play. He knew exactly what the play was. Hats off to him, when they showed it again I honestly said “Wow, that was a great play.” You have to respect it on defense when it happens too, the pass would’ve been complete if he didn’t call it right.

The "blown coverage"

Was a result of a play that lined Collie up as a decoy. They lined him up in a position not many receivers line up in to draw the deep safety towards his side. The CB had the zone and passed to the safety when he saw it was a wheel route to the outside, however, since the Collie ran a streak down the middle, the safety had to wait and react and Reggie was too fast for him to recover. It was a well designed play with excellent execution. Sometimes coverages are blown as opposed to blown coverage. There’s a significant difference in the semantics of that.

And this is TRUTH

Ugh, such a hassle every season. I’ve actually been enjoying the Saints love so we don’t have to deal with it again for yet another season. Not to mention I feel like stabbing people I suspect as bandwagon Colts fans (which is an extremely high number in this area because I haven’t found many) in the hand when they’re not paying attention with a fork.

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

I'm being honest

When I say that I think we could sit a good amount of players and still beat the Bills and Jets. And honestly, I think at this point Caldwell knows that letting them try for it at this point is more motivating than anything he could say or do would be. I mean, I was so stoked after that game that even with my recently surgically repaired shoulder I was looking for a helmet to put on to get blasted by some 260 lb dude running twice as fast as I ever could.

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

I'm not going to lie

I think this has crossed his mind. But again, let’s wait for a few days to start this train up. It’s going to be going on for awhile, they have a pretty big break.

They need a good, long sleep.

I'd like to see that.

The great part about this game is

that at about 12:00 left in the game, my dad (who is an eternal pessimist and takes things way too hard), said that he’s going to bed now. I basically looked at him and asked him if he was actually going to bed on a game that Manning was on the field. I was able to shame him into staying up for the rest of the game, and now I have some good bragging right over him.

I love it :-)

The NFL Network

has switched to Cowboys-Saints coverage. Did they get bored of us already?
