angry rant against media
i have get this off my chest about what everyone is saying (ESPN) about the colts going into the playoffs. First off, i hate skip bayless and he's an idiot, but on first and ten this morning both skip and whoever he was against both agreed that the colts are not going to make it very far in the playoffs. They don't stop the run very well, and past history is against them apparently. First off, to win in this league and in the playoffs, stopping the run isn't as vital. You have to stop the pass and pass the ball. PERIOD! End of story! Well the colts do that. Besides, MJD always has a good game against the colts anyways so that wasn't a surprise.
But everyone is harping on the defense and how they won't be able to stop anyone if they couldn't stop the jags. I'm sorry, before this game, weren't the colts tied for second best scoring defense, with GB who they say is the best impression of a shut down D this year. ok. The jags know the colts well, they came out fighting and the D didn't show up til the fourth quarter and that was without freeney and mathis. This was only the second time all season the colts had given up over 30 points in a game. It really is what have you done for me lately isn't it? How easily people forget how good this D is. There may be some bad games yes, but the O bailed them out. It's a team sport! How many times has the D bailed the O out? That's what i thought. The D will be fine, they just had an off game. Freeney and Mathis will be back for the playoffs and ready to blood.
I have a question though, how is a 10-3 team the team to beat when there is a 14-0 team in the same conference? In my book, 14-0>10-3. I dont know what math they are using. But apparently the chargers are better when they have lost three more games then the colts have. Sure, the colts have been in some close games, but they have made the plays that need to be made to win and that's is all the counts. The chargers didn't do that 3 times. And FYI, the chargers do NOT have the colts number. They have been extremely close games the last couple times they have played and it could have gone either way. If the colts made that 3rd and 2 last year, they would not be talking about this.
The colts are the team to beat.
The defense is great.
This team knows how to win. PERIOD!
i cant wait for this team to prove all the haters wrong and go 19-0!
GO COLTS!
(I feel better now that i got that off my chest.)

This is just a typical representation of how the East Coast Media works.
They don’t watch games or study game tape. They watch the Big East/Pats, after that they take a look at the game stats from all the other games, and then ask the opinion of everyone else in their cubical farm, finally they talk/write out of their asses.
That’s the process and it sucks.
this would be a better response...
if they weren’t talking up a west coast team.
Bayless should be disregarded 100% of the time though. He’s an idiot.
I love that there’s talk of a team being 16-0 and an underdog. If ever there was bulletin board material, that’s it.
It's less about the Chargers and more about the Colts.
Pretty much every week for the last decade, whenever a “credible” team plays the Colts, they are best team ever. This is the result of idiot Boston/New York fans (not Mar. she’s cool by me) who can’t stand that someone is better than them in fly-over country and just try to nit-pick and marginalize. These are the people who scream the the NFC East is the best division in football every year despite being filled with boring/meh teams.
The west coast press isn’t any better. They’re obsessed with themselves and only pay attention to their teams. This is due to their contention that they are marginalized due to the time-zone issue.
I ignore Skip. He’s paid to be a real-life internet troll.

Great Post, I agree, the media don't use logic, they get paid to rile people up.
"You can't defend the perfect throw, what can I say?" Peyton quoting Marino
"As I grow older, the list of people who can kiss my ass grows longer"-Ancient Hoosier Proverb.
according to the media a 19-0 colts team < a 1-15 patriots teams
"You only get intercepted when you don't know what your doing, I knew what I was Doing".

The media probably sees the same thing I see,
a very good Chargers team. They always looking for the angle no one else sees. “Yes I know the Colts and Saints are undefeated but, the Chargers are the team to beat!” As long as they come up with good reasoning based on some actual analysis of the game I appreciate it.
That doesn’t bother me. They even have a descent case. The only thing that really bothers me is when they avoid doing any analysis at all. You’re right, anyone paying attention would have made the obvious assumption that Freeney and Mathis out of the game has huge impact on the defense.
On the other hand, what is really annoying is how many people on a daily basis are upset that the media doesn’t consider the Colts a Godsend; the greatest football team ever. You even use arguments that you’ll have no problem contradicting a week later so long as it helps your argument another time. “The Saints suck because they almost lost a game, however the Colts are awesome because they win close games.”
I remember when I used to be shocked when the media mentioned the Colts terrible ball club at all. Now? It’s a daily topic on nearly every talk show on ESPN. Most of them come to the conclusion that the Colts are the best. However a few sometimes make the asinine argument that the Saints, ALSO undefeated might be better! How could they POSSIBLY come to that conclusion!!! OH NO! I can’t even watch football anymore. Someone dared to make the assumption that some other football team may be better than the Colts.
Give me a break. The non-stop whining over the media not praising the Colts at all times is ridiculous. The reason why we watch this game because it is not predictable. It’s fun to see who wins. We hope the Colts win this year, but we don’t know what will happen. So when someone says the Colts aren’t going to win? Who cares, we’ll find out right?
Here’s some more information that should not have to shatter your world, just accept it and move on: The Saints are good. So are the Vikings. So are the Chargers. Drew Brees is a good QB. So is Rivers. This is not the worst thing you’ve ever heard in your life. Trust me.
:)
No. Most come to the conclusion that the Saints are the better team, and so is San Diego.

Thanks for the oversimplification. What we are tired of is the unequal treatment that’s been going on since Peyton was a Freshman at Tenn. No one gets the “yea but” more than Peyton. It’s been that way for forever. This isn’t something new, or frankly ever about this year. It’s the body of work. If we were to go on to 19-0, I guarantee that unless we went 19-0 for the next 2-3 years, the “choker” talk will return again as soon as we lost another playoff game. It will be all about how Ben got his earlier, and Brady has more. Bank on it.

Ya know...........
Ever since approaching the Patriots game, we have been supposed to loose. Since that time, the byline seems to be “This is the weeks the Colts could loose”. It’s pretty damned funny how these bozos get an idea in their heads and they can never change. We’d best just expect every game from now on out to be the one the Colts are gonna loose, including Buffalo, because it’ll be outside in the cold. When the Colts pocket the Super Bowl, we oughta jam these mooks emails with the following statement, “What do you have to say now, shit head?” This is the only reason I hope we go undefeated, just to rub it in these idiots faces. But a Super Bowl will sufice, loss(es) or not. Just get through the playoffs, and get me some Superbowl.
