Anthony Gonzalez will practice!

Peter King is reporting that Gonzalez will practice today! For once, I hope our least favorite boston writer is right on this.

Star-divide

"Tony Ugoh is a useful sub at left tackle while Anthony Gonzalez, out since Week 1 with a knee injury, will try to practice full speed today for the first time since the injury. If the Colts are satisfied with the depth that each of those men provide, and comfortable that each can play Sunday, they might be more inclined to let Manning play for a half this week."

Peter King also said last week that the Colts were going to rest all of their starters. Peter King does not know what he is talking about. As I’ve said all along, I’ll believe it when I see it.

"Yea, verily, we shall overcome thy pathetic attempts at defense, thou jelly-livered knave! Talk not of thy smack to me, for I shall wedge mine booted foot nine furlongs up thy ass, bitch! Canst thou dig it??"

okay, so it took him three tries.

I'm happy to hear about Gonzo,

but I don’t think Peter King knows anything about who’s going to play and for how long.

I hope he is right

I want Gonzo on the field for these last two games

by metal_militia on Dec 21, 2009 10:30 AM EST reply actions

I'm not surprised

He has to get some game reps in to shake off the rust in order to be fully ready for a postseason run. His opinions may be extremely biased most times, but in terms of actual reporting of sports NEWS, there isn’t really anyone that has more credibility. That doesn’t say a lot for Peter King as much as it just shows how horrible the rest of the sports journalists of the country are. He may be wrong on his facts at times, but not as much as his “colleagues” are. With the circumstances surrounding Gonzo, I would be surprised if he does not practice this week, along w/ Donald Brown.

Exactly

And Even if he only gets 1 or 2 Passes the first game..He is still a threat that has to be covered. Just give him the Dallas Clark treatment..Have him run a bacon route..

Yeah

He and Schefter are pretty much the boss when it comes to this kind of stuff.

I really hope Gonzo can practice and hopefully get some playing time this week to work out the kinks and I would love to see him as another option for this team as the playoffs approach.

That said, I think it is now or never for AV because if he isn’t going to be healthy, there is no reason to keep him around. AV’s position is much more important than Gonzo’s since kickers can be the difference between winning and losing this year.

I agree

I would really like to know what the strategy with AV is. I personally have been patient and just assumed he would be fine by now, but i’m starting to wonder when and if we ever see him again in the regular season. I hope he is back this week and practicing. I don’t see the use of throwing him back in, in a playoff game nonetheless, without having played in a few months, unless he gets a couple of games in his system. You are right. Gonzo is a big time weapon, but there won’t be a game where he alone potentially holds the game in his hands like AV would have to face.

Silly question

I thought they didn’t start practice until Tuesday? Or is that just when they start reporting injuries?

I think they usually have workouts Monday, Tuesday's off

and start official practice Wednesday.

Thanks.

Sorry for the incorrect information, LovinBlue. Thought I heard they were practicing today, but must have just been the workouts that shake is talking about.

We won’t be getting an injury report until Wednesday either way, right?

by diagenesis on Dec 21, 2009 3:53 PM EST up reply actions

I thought Mondays were film and meetings

Because they’re pretty beat and swollen/limping from Sunday games

Tuesday off, then regular practices on Wed/Thurs/Fri.

don't take it as fact

the only thing I know for sure is Tuesdays off and Wednesday-Friday Practice. When it comes to Monday I’m vaguely remembering some stuff from who knows where.

I'm pretty sure that

Mondays are completely off for players if they win the previous Sunday. It’s a thing carried over from Dungy,

i was on the Bill Polian Show

Just a few minutes ago. I asked Bill about this and he said he did have a light practice and it went well. They would like to see him get as many snaps as possible before the playoffs. So that’s awesome.

I also was so nervous talking to them, I almost choked. What a loser!

I also wish I had time and motivation to blog at Speed Blue Nation

by Bullard47 on Dec 21, 2009 6:58 PM EST via mobile reply actions

how much gushing over him and Lamey did you do before the question?

because when I listened to the show last week everyone I heard spent the first minute minimum, usually longer telling Polian what he already knows (he’s awesome).

actually

I didn’t say too much, that was when I was the most nervous. I did thank them for a special decade. The good thing is I actually had my question wrote out.
