Some Jets thoughts/discussion

Interesting tidbit.  If the Broncos lose to the Eagles (likely) and the Ravens lose to the Steelers (possible), I believe I read that the Jets (if they beat the Colts) will control their own playoff fate.  I would expect Jacksonville to lose to New England and Pittsburgh OR Miami is forced to lose one of their final 2 (they play each other in the last week of the year).  I believe the Jets own the tie breaker over the Titans because the Jets have decided to lose half of their out of conference games while the Titans decided to just lose to the AFC.

All of that out of the way, it would behoove the Jets to beat the Colts.  The Colts have nothing but some romantic sort of history to MAYBE play for, because 14-0, 15-0 and 16-0 don't promise a ring.  So how can the less talented Jets beat the really good Colts?  What if Rex Ryan wakes up and realizes, 'hey, they don't want Peyton and Addai and all these guys hurt.  Lets blitz 11 on every play, hit him late, maybe a couple of dirty hits, make the coaches poop their pants'.  Won't Caldwell be forced to pull the starters?  Isn't it worth it to the Jets to take a few 15 yarders in the first quarter to face the immortal Curtis Painter/Mike Hart combination?

What do you think, will the J E T S JETS JETS JETS play it straight, or will they try to make the coach sit the franchise so the Sanchize can get a W?

Also, unrelated, but I fully expect the Patriots to beat the Jaguars and then tank in their week 17 game (forget who they play).  Winning this week clinches the division for them, and losing in week 17 all but assures that they will play the Colts in round 2 (assuming they win their first play off game), which Im guessing they think is a better matchup than the Chargers.

Never doubt Peyton Manning, he’ll make you look silly
Joseph Addai is a good running back.

I'm not worried at all

Because Peyton OWNS Rex Ryan like an old pair of shoes. He has consistently destroyed his most vaunted defenses. The first time the Ravens played the Colts really close in YEARS was AFTER he left.

This could become a blowout rather quickly, especially with Sanchize at work. I bet Jennings pick-sixes one of his throws.

If the Bengals win over kansas they'll clinch too

and they can drop the last one to the jets like the patriots and the patriots will face SD if they win the wild card round.

So the Bengals will dictate who plays who and not the pats. if each one win their games sunday

I dont know

If the pats want to face the colts round 2. They’ve beaten the chargers 3 of the last four times they’ve played. Meanwhile, whens the last time they beat the colts not counting the comeback in ’07

Yeah

Cause the patriots were the best team in the AFC. That was before the saints game i think. Howd that turn out Kornheiser?

by Dawg013 on Dec 23, 2009 7:34 PM EST up reply actions

no i

mean the MSM and Kornheiser specifically, all said the Patriots won the game this year.

Anyhow, if you listen to all the off-season ‘we can talk now without worry’ pieces written, the Patriots constantly talk down about the Colts, thats the mathchup they prefer. The 2008 playoffs (the 2007 season) when the Chargers beat the Colts in the first round, BB said he didnt even bother preparing for the Colts. I get the feeling he’d pick the Colts over the Chargers, just a gut, maybe I’m wrong.

buut it will be what the bengals give him

bengals have the last word on the seeding if they win sunday

by thebossuzzi on Dec 23, 2009 7:49 PM EST up reply actions

there is a big chance that we have to play a wildcard team

4 times of the last 5 playoffs atleast one of the wildcard teams has won the wildcard game. So good odds that we play the 5th or 6th seed.

Good odds we will get to play only one, the chargers or the pats.

by thebossuzzi on Dec 23, 2009 10:00 PM EST up reply actions

My guess

is the Pats. The Chargers will be exposed by Brady and Co. And I want the Pats in the AFCCG anyway. They are struggling right now. That locker room incident is still effecting the team as a whole

Bob Sanders does not play Hide-and-Seek, He plays HIDE and PRAY-HE-DOES-NOT FIND-YOU!
