Week 16: Wednesday Colts Injury Report
9 players missed practice today, 15 others on the report, including two returning from injuries that sidelined them for a significant period. Unfortunately Anthony Gonzalez was among the 9 missing practice despite working out on Monday. Gonzalez's window to return is closing fast. He needs to get on the field soon or else the season will be totally lost.
In brighter news Adam Vinatieri and Aaron Francisco are back at practice after being sidelined for extended periods. Donald Brown went from missing several games, to not even on the report (unless the second time they listed Bullitt was suppose to be him).
Did Not Participate: Keyunta Dawson (knee), Dwight Freeney (abdomen), Pierre Garcon (hand), Anthony Gonzalez (knee), Charlie Johnson (foot), Freddy Keiaho (personal), Robert Mathis (quad), Jerraud Powers (hamstring), Clint Session (knee)
Full Participation: Joseph Addai (knee), Antoine Bethea (foot), Gary Brackett (foot), Melvin Bullitt (chest)*, Mevlin Bullitt (shoulder), Ryan Diem (foot), Aaron Francisco (ankle), Mike Hart (ankle), Tim Jennings (ankle), Jacob Lacey (bicep), Peyton Manning (glute), Jamey Richard (shoulder), Chad Simpson (chest), Tony Ugoh (knee), Adam Vinatieri (knee), Reggie Wayne (foot).
*I think that's supposed to be Donald Brown. It's in the right place alphabetically and that Melvin is listed with Brown's injury (chest).

given that one says Chest
I think the Donald Brown theory is pretty good. I think for multiple injuries that just put a dash
Never doubt Peyton Manning, he’ll make you look silly
Joseph Addai is a good running back.
Im a douchebag, an asshole, and I'm rarely right.
na usually they would just put the most serious i thik but dont know

i think its a clerical error

Oh yeah
I agree definately I dont know the nfl treats it thats all. Im not saying our master plan against the jets is to hide an injury that has kept our 2nd RB out of the past 2 games. We arent schmuks like singletary
Hey
Singletary is a bum, not a schmuck. Get it right.
I also wish I had time and motivation to blog at Speed Blue Nation
some thoughts
Garcon needs to man up, its just a hand, rub some dirt on it.
Chuck Johnson needs to rest, according to Phil he’s in a TON of pain.
The fact that Mathis is stlil appearing makes me think he needs to just sit for a while, the quad is all of his explosiveness and burst, we need that.
Kenyuta Dawson should be cut. Failed DE/DT number 492 for Dungy. Right up there with Sweet Pea Burns and, gosh, I can’t remember the other guy, but I can picture him. Think they were both from the same draft, dont think either ever played a regular season snap.
Hope Papa Smurf is OK.

I think Polian has learned his lesson
about playing key linebackers with knee risks.
Ugoh is adequate
But beyond him, I don’t want to think about having Peyton playing. Even though he’s great at getting it off and Joe is great at chipping.
Dawson has been useful as a backup end
I think the problem is that he’s gone through 2 position changes in 3 years.
If you cut Dawson your probably signing Josh Thomas for more money to eat up some run down snaps.

He is fast
I never realized how fast Dawson was. Now if he could only put that speed to use. You may be right, he’s still learning but apparently the guy has a great work ethic, and I’d rather have him than Thomas.
I agree about Pierre
A bruise shouldn’t be this serious. Either he is being a little weak or it’s more than a bruise.
"Brett Favre was a man who thought he was retired, but he knew it wouldn't last."
Ummm...
Actually, a bruised hand for a wide receiver could be problematic, considering they need their hands to do their job…we don’t know what the bruise entails…it could be an issue with tendons, ligaments and so forth in the hand…I am pretty sure the last guy we should question the toughness of is Garcon….the guy is a badass.
the last guy?
how about Manning who has never missed a start. Or Freeney that played with a torn quad. Or Dallas that takes more headshots than a starlet. Or Reggie that has played through a myriad of injuries over a long period of time.
Garcon’s injury may well be serious, but I can think of a lot more players on this team that have shown a heck of a lot of toughness over more than a 14 game span that would be the ‘last guy’ i’d question. Garcon probably isnt in the top 15.

I think the point is
Do we want a guy to play when/if his injury may directly impact his ability to do his job well. Do you want to take a bullet from Manning right in the palms, with a deep muscle bruise there? Just saying
I also wish I had time and motivation to blog at Speed Blue Nation
im worried that it is more serious wise wouldn't he at least be in limited practice or something
anway how garcon is alright for the game. hey anyone know how much time santi missed with his hand issue??

Wow...
Way to take things to an absolute literal level SpazMo…I never questioned the toughness of anyone else, I was simply trying to make a point that Garcon is tough, and if you don’t believe me, check out how many people think that he is the toughest and most physical receiver the Colts have had in years…
This game means dog-$hit and I am sure he would be playing if this game amounted to anything…it is just stupid to question someone’s toughness when none of us have any idea what the heck is wrong with his hand…that was my point…that was it. Nothing about Peyton, Reggie, or Dwight not being as tough. Let’s stop taking things so literal.
his biggest issue
was his hands. fast as the dickens, tough as nails…. couldn’t catch a cold. cut him some slack on his hand injury. saw him at training camp close up this summer: he had drops and drops and drops. he stayed late to work with the jugs machine. it’s the one thing that’s kept him from being hailed as bona fide superstar this year.

Serious about Gonzalez?
What the hell is the holdup? He practices on Monday, has been rehabilitating since week 1, plus after the surgery, if he’s not going to play this week, or especially if he doesn’t play next week, what is the point of throwing him in for the playoffs after 17 weeks of not playing?
Very, VERY frustrating to say the least.
"A lot of times, Kenny, we have no idea what we're doing. But the DEFENSE doesn't know that we don't know what we're doing.....and that's next level." -Peyton Manning
Don't panic yet.
He may practice tomorrow or Friday. We don’t know yet. Feel free to use Friday to panic.

They practiced on Thanksgiving.
It will probably be just a light morning practice, but I haven’t heard anything otherwise.

I don't see the need for it
Meaningless game and it’s a holiday. Give them the day off.
"Brett Favre was a man who thought he was retired, but he knew it wouldn't last."
is it just me
or does Polian’s scouting magic sputter when it comes to interior linemen?
?
Saturday and Lilja are both elite interior linemen, and DeVan is serviceable and will get better.

none of them were drafted by the Colts though
actually they all went undrafted

But Polian still got them.
Does it matter what method he uses of getting them? He still had to scout them out and thought enough of them to pick them out. The original poster was questioning Polian’s scouting skills, not his drafting skills with interior linemen.
