it should come to no surprise that the colts rested their key players. I wasn't. In fact, i was expecting it.The only thing i didn't expect was when they pulled peyton. trust me, i was screaming at the television and yelling at everyone around me who was trying to calm me down. (It didn't work) But now that the game has settled and i hae accepted it and looking forward to the post season, i realized why i was so angry. they only had a five point lead at the time. that was way too soon. The O was moving pretty easily. If they would have just scored one more touchdown before they were taken out, i dont think i would have been as mad. Then it would be a two possession game. It was just weird the way the colts played it. Manning wasn't getting hit and they were clicking, why not one more series? The game could have been completely turned around. The colts might have won it if they pulled him then.
But i do agree to some extent to prevent injuries. The ultimate goal is the sb and you try to get there with all your cards. The last couple play off losses were not because of rust, but because (mostly defense) the key starters were gone. 08- brackett, 07- freeney and mathis/brock on one leg. So i understand the decision, i still think it was the wrong move. THey were so close to history. The players and the team deserve the right to go for it and i feel like they were cheated the most. You saw their expressions on the sidelines, they were deflated, and heart broken they were being taken out of the game. When you have two winnable games to go undefeated and even win a sb to go 19-0, you go for it.
while i disagree with the move, im not part of the organization. there is a reason i am here and not on the colts staff. It just felt weird and awkward when they did take the starters out and i think that's what irked me the most. the game was too close. one more series, hopefully a td, and put the game a little mroe out of reach. The d played very well and think the colts might have one if that scenario worked out. Man, i would hate to be caldwell right now. he was in a no win situation. I just feel bad for painter. I hope he realises that they weren't booing him, they were booing the coaches for not going for the perfect season.
don't worry, this team will be fine and hopefully kick some ass in the playoffs! There is so much veteran leadership on this team, i would be shocked if the colts completely lay an egg in the playoffs. they are 14-1. better then any other team in the league with the best QB in the league. Here's to another sb!
