Everyone needs to calm the hell down

Alright everyone, I understand your frustration. But instead of sharpening our pitchforks, maybe we all need to take a step back and think about this in perspective.

Ask yourself, as a Colts fan, why do I want the Colts to have the perfect season?

Is it to be known as the best team ever? Sure.

Is it to shut Mercury Morris up once and for all? Doubly sure.

There is however one reason alone that tops all of our lists whether we will admit it or not.

We want to rub the perfect season in Patriots fans faces. That is simply the long and short of it. If the Pats never went 18 - 0 we wouldn't be this incensed. Hell, we've all seen this before the Pats flirted with the perfect season! So why are we all getting our panties in bunches this time? Because we could have succeeded where our loathesome rivals failed.

Think about it. If, say, the Broncos had done gone 18 - 1 instead of the Pats would you still be as upset as you are today? Hell no you wouldn't - don't lie! For that matter what if the Pats had gone 19 - 0 and had the perfect season? Would we be crying in our pillows about resting our starters? No sir we wouldn't, even if it meant being one of the three teams to have perfect seasons.

Folks, Polian wants to win a Superbowl. Caldwell wants to win a Superbowl. We all want the Colts to win a Superbowl but as fans, we also want to humiliate the Patriots. Polian and Caldwell don't give a crap about the Patriots. They want to win a SUPERBOWL. That is their jobs! Perhaps Polian could be more sensitive towards the feelings of the fans and not rebuke his criticisms in such a harsh way but that's Bill effing Polian. He is not our mother/father/grandmother here to kiss our booboos. He is here to win a g-damn championship.

Let these people do their jobs. You can still go re-watch Brady and company choke away the perfect season anytime you want to.

Totally Disagree

I could care less about the Patriots but I do care about history and the Colts had a chance at making it. The loss today was idiotic and a slam to the integrity of the game. And despite the party line given by some players it did indeed bother them to give a game away like this. The Super Bowl is a month away and the last twenty minutes of this game would have no affect on it other than demoralizing the team and it’s fans. So you go ahead and “calm the hell down” yourself.

No effect?

So when someone gets injured in the last meaningless twenty minutes of this meaningless game and cant play in the games that count toward a superbowl, what is that?

You and I are not NFL GM’s or coaches for a reason. I wanted a perfect season as much as anyone but you can’t blame Polian or Caldwell for not being greedy like me.

INJURIES!!!

Guys, you have to think about if Peyton had gotten hurt.
I mean, what if Peyton got sandwiched between two players and his leg got broken in three places like Theisman and on his way down he reached out his right hand and broke his wrist. What if Reggie Wayne was horse collared and injured his MCL, ACL, DCL and KCL all in the same play and then on the ensuing defensive stand, Freeney slipped on a banana peel that fell out of the OG’s back pocket and tore a hammie?
What would you think about Caldwell’s decision to leave in the starters?
Who’s the genius now? ….Burn!
Just leave the important decisions to the master-minds!

It hurts the integrity of the game.

Is it ok for a team that is already out of the playoffs to “throw a game” in order to move up in the draft? If Tampa Bay pulled their starters the last two games in order to protect players who have nothing left to play for the league would have a fit. But it is fine for a winning team to do the same.

Why calm down?

This idiot decision is the most assinine thing ever done in NFL history. And, yes, it hurts the integrity of the game. Why do we want to win a superbowl? Think about what you’ve said. Obviously, to be known as the best. It all comes down to egos. Well, imagine winning with an undefeated record of 19-0….which was totally doable. That’s like winning the superbowl on steroids and egos would be stroked for generations. Why can’t people understand this? Unbelievable. This isn’t about humiliating anyone, it’s about striving for and attaining a unique place in history. We were right there and so close, yet Polian pulled the plug. They are dozens and dozens of superbowl winners. So what? There’s only one 17-0 team which everyone remembers. 19-0 would have trumped that. But, Polian decided they shouldn’t have that chance. He should be hung for that. It’s one thing to lose honestly, but to intentially throw a game is unforgivable.

Going 16-0/19-0

Isn’t about rubbing it in the Patriots faces. It isn’t even about the Colts being the only team to be able to do so.

IT’S ABOUT PEYTON’S LEGACY.

Peyton Manning has put this team on his back and carried them for 10 years. He has cemented Polian’s place in the hall of fame, Dungy’s place in the hall of fame, hell probably even Caldwell’s place. They owe it to him, to his legacy, to go for an undefeated season. 19-0 along with his career stats will cement him once and for all as the greatest QB to have ever played the game.

Now when we win the superbowl, we’re left thinking, “What if?”
