The poll option on ESPN
says “Colts pull starters, give up on perfect season.” That sucks to see.

ALA Peter King:
“best team in football? We don’t have one right now.” I am going to be real sore about this for a long time.

That quote is pretty ridiculous.
Just because we aren’t undefeated? We had the game in the bag before we decided to basically give the Jets the game. I guess since the Saint’s lost to Tampa Bay they are ‘even’ with us.

Argh....
Not that my Steelers deserve to make the playoffs after blowing so many games we should have won….but if it’s any consolation, we are pissed about the Colts’ management throwing the game as well. If you guys would have won, all we would have needed was a win at Miami and the Texans to lose to the Pats. Now, the Jets will have to lose to friggin Cincinnati. It also would have been nice to have another huge story like this going into the playoffs.
I am a huge nonbeliever in the belief that resting your players is always a good thing. When you have such a well-oiled machine as the Colts have, I think it is best to keep them playing full-time. And let’s face it…………it’s not like your offensive line is as bad as the Steelers. Manning is RARELY under serious pressure. I truly believe that resting the starters again in Week 17 (which I am sure they will) could spell doom after the bye, as it will take a little too long to shake the rust off.
Very valid point
This isn’t the first time the Colts resting players have changed the scope of the entire playoffs. I know the Browns weren’t too happy with us a little ways back. We basically handed a Jets a win and belittled the efforts of teams that actually had to try. Even though I’m not a huge Steelers fan (the bandwagon fans + 2005 makes me shake with contained rage), if they had a chance to get in on their own merits, they should. It lessens the entire playoffs to hand a win to a team that’s not as good as another. The playoffs in general are supposed to be the best teams, and the SB Champion is supposed to be the best of the best. Even if it’d be harder for us, it’d be more satisfying to know we actually played and beat the teams on a fair playing field. I for one WANT to play the Chargers just like we had to play the Patriots in 2006.
You’re exactly right about Peyton and pressure. He’s only been sacked over 20 times three times this decade and once in the past seven seasons. He’s been sacked 1.8% of his dropbacks this season. He’s been sacked less in the past 3 seasons (45) than Roethlisberger has this season (47). For some reason I recall a certain QB having to be taken off in a stretcher coming back and winning every playoff game and eventually a SB after a bye week.
Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

I'm looking at you too, Raheem! Okay, not really.
If Caldwell hadn’t had the brain fart of the year, all the Steelers would need would be a NE win @ HOU!

I didn't mind BB's call.
If Brady coverts, it’s game over. My issue came after the failed conversion, when he allowed Indy to suck all of the time off the clock before scoring the winning TD. He should have allowed a one-play TD drive, and gotten the ball back for Brady with sufficient time left.
