so Im watchin Texas A&M v Georgia

and the RB for A&M’s first name is Christine (Spelled Kris-teen, pronounced Kris-Ten), and the announcer says, ’his mother named him Christine before he was born, thought it would be a girl, when she found at it was a boy, kept the name, just changed the pronounciation.

Huh? Shouldnt some things override what you did before you knew the sex of the baby? Like.. the actual sex of the baby?

We change the station...

I did hear recently on the radio that country music had a surge in listening after 9/11. But has declined recently in both record sales. Not that that had much to do with what you asked…

And people kept mentioning how much nicer everyone was. Im sure they were feeling more patriotic

btw

not all of us are country music fans. I’ve actually tried and just can’t go there in general. But I did live in Europe as a teen, perhaps that’s it. lol

23 straight

Is MEANINGLESS with the loss to bolts in the middle of it.

by ColtsUK on Dec 28, 2009 6:18 PM EST reply actions

it also feeds into the narrative of the Colts, we win in the regular season only to come up short in the playoffs

And yet

Polian still acts as though hes the absolute master of winning superbowls

by ColtsUK on Dec 28, 2009 6:20 PM EST up reply actions

Not meaningless.

It meant a lot to everyone when the Pats owned 21 straight. And they had a loss in the middle of theirs as well. Called the super bowl. The record has meaning.

by coltsfanawalt on Dec 28, 2009 6:20 PM EST up reply actions

Pats

Have also closed the deal 3 times since the Colts have started being good every year. Not to mention they have also been to another SB and another AFCCG in between.

by AceOfSpades on Dec 28, 2009 8:09 PM EST up reply actions

Okay, but the point is still that the record is not meaningless.

It can’t have meaning when the Pats do it but lose in the playoffs in between, but then mean nothing when the Colts do the same. Unless you are Deion Sanders or Skip Bayless. It’s either significant both time or neither.

The way they honored the Pats record at the Hall of Fame in Canton, they’d better do the same for the Colts.

by coltsfanawalt on Dec 28, 2009 8:39 PM EST up reply actions

Agree about the significance of the record

But the actions of Colts management yesterday was akin to pissing on the lawn of the Hall of Fame.

Polian: Screw all of the players in years past that have sacrificed so much to get Championships, Hall of Fame careers, perfect seasons, etc. We extend our middle fingers to you because we can, so piss off!

And everyone questions why we get no national respect from the media and former players and coaches.

I don't always drink beer....but when I do, I prefer Dos Equis.

Polian

Jets defense is very tough. So, that means throwing a rookie QB out there makes all the sense to the world.

Polian: “Do you want to expose Peyton to that kind of situation?”

Um, you exposed him to two and a half quarters to this Jets team, and he was hardly ever touched.

Evidently I'm here now.

I was commenting on the other thread. I’ll repeat what I said on the other thread:

He defends his decision by saying that "Any Colts fan in August" would have gladly accepted a 14-1 at this point. Sure we would Bill, but WHY settle for mediocrity when greatness is in your sights?? I’m not saying 14-1 is chump change, but ask any Colts fan if they would rather have 15-0 or 14-1. I wonder what they would say, Bill.

Especially with the fact that we were WINNING when you pulled our starters.

Polian Logic is so stupid.

That’s like Mario Andretti winning the 500 and on the final lap, he’s called into the pits by the owner, just to reduce the risk of potential injury from a crash. At some point, it’s time to grow a set, man up, and kick some fucking ass in the NFL. Polian doesn’t get that.

a couple of good things about all this is

that now the Jets have something to play for against the Bengals and a loss by the bengals will give the pats the 3rd seed and a game against the Jets who are division rivals and could get away beating them , we kept away the stealers and we kept away any of our own division rivals who were trying to get in.

if we have won ,prolly the pats would get 4th seed by dropping their last on and huoston would have had a better chance to get in. So a good chance we had to face the pats and then the chargers.

He is giving the Colts the best chance to get to the SB

Our best chance is to pay just one the pats or the chargers , the Pats intentions were to drop the last game to get the 4th seed , now Cincy will not risk starters to a meaningless game against a Jets defense. WIth a cincy loss Pats get 3rd seed and prolly get to face the Jets first and then the Chargers.

by thebossuzzi on Dec 28, 2009 6:57 PM EST reply actions

I hope you are kidding. Because that would mean that the Colts are scared of the Pats and scared of the Chargers. And it also means that the Colts are flat out playing scared.

by Ayrshire on Dec 28, 2009 7:11 PM EST up reply actions

At any rate, they at least tried to win it.

This game was intentionally lost in the name of resting starters for a few series. And, that logic is totally inconsistent with the games that were blow-outs. Why in the world would they let Peyton continue to play with a 24 point lead with five minutes to go in a game?

by Ayrshire on Dec 28, 2009 7:13 PM EST up reply actions

I'm positive.

We lost to SD, were 13-1, then that week Dung’y son died. He missed the next game, then limped back in to oversee the last one, though he’d missed the week of prep. We lost two weeks later to Pittsburgh. That whole season was tragic.

I remember all the hype back in 2005 about the possibility of going undefeated. Now we know we do not ever have to worry about it, because even if we get this far, management will just screw the pooch.

The only way we could ever go undefeated would be if the last regular season game had meaning (in other words, if the Titans were also undefeated or something, and we were playing for home field.

Here's a thought, Bill

If you are going to throw the last few games of the year, how about giving us fans our money back for the “games” that aren’t played.

If you have tickets to a music concert, and the headliner doesn’t play as promised, you get your money back. The NFL should be no different, IMO.

What fans should do

Once the playoffs are locked up each season (or confirmed that the Colts would miss the playoffs), fans should boycott the remaining home games so the Colts mgmt can see what it’s like to be quit on.

Imagine what would be said if no fans showed up to the game because everything was already clinched because the fans said they didn’t want to risk getting sick in the cold, snowy weather.

More Than Just Colts Fans Were Cheated When Indy Let The Jets Win

Several NFL Teams should be thanking Coach Caldwell and GM Polian of the Colt’s for their questionable decision to bench Indianapolis’s Starters mid-way through the Jets game. That particular "Coach’s Decision" wasn’t trivial at all. The fact of the matter is that Coach Caldwell’s personnel decision had very serious Playoff implications and directly altered the NFL’s 2009 Playoff competition. His decision to pull top players from the game against a team STILL IN CONTENTION FOR A PLAYOFF BERTH had the APPEARANCE of weighting the game to favor a particular outcome and future Playoff structure. Had the concern been about player protection, why play the starters at all? The move seemed cynical and manipulative and makes the New England VideoGate controversy seem tame stuff indeed.. If they had done this against a team that was neither in the Playoff hunt, nor able to affect the Playoff rankings then there would be no issue, but that was not the case. I have written a letter of complaint to the League Offices and encourage other NFL Fans to do the same. here is the address to the League’s offices :
