I hope

we get the Jets in the playoffs. That would be fabulous. The way they decided to just ignore that Dwight Freeney was in the game is laughable. The pretty much FORGOT to block the best pass rusher in the NFL. With Freeney AND Mathis out there….Oh shit! Sanchez may just be carted off the field with life threatening injuries.

That last part about cheating other playoff teams

That is a load of crap. They put themselves in that position. Like Polian said (thats right POLIAN) dont put yourself in a position where you have to rely on others.

by metal_militia on Dec 29, 2009 9:11 PM EST reply actions

Agreed...

Is it bad to keep the Ravens or Broncos or Steelers out of the playoffs to weaken the field? The Bengals have the same opportunity this week. If they tank they would play the Jets again. If they win they would get the Ravens or Steelers. What would YOU do?

by emiller17 on Dec 29, 2009 9:12 PM EST up reply actions

Agree

They put THEMSELVES in that position to have to get help to make it. If you are a playoff team, you will be there without having to get help from other teams

You're right Reggie.

That’s what I keep telling people.

by Ayrshire on Dec 29, 2009 9:16 PM EST reply actions

I think part of it....

is the idea that Manning wanted his 4th MVP too. If we pull him in the ARI game or the TEN game or the JAX game he doesn’t win the MVP. It’s a stats award. You can’t pull him at that point.

by emiller17 on Dec 29, 2009 9:17 PM EST reply actions

That is true as well...

How many times did Manning get hit in the JAX game compared to the 1st half of the Jets game? Can you imagine how up in arms we would be if Manning got hit with a helmet on the elbow?

I just don't see how this situation

Irsay was in the meeting when they took the decision

Polian said it in the interview , this was an organizational decision

by thebossuzzi on Dec 29, 2009 9:27 PM EST reply actions

I think the difference in treatment for the Jags and Jets games was based on the point in the season

and how concerned they’d be about facing each team in the playoffs.

The Jags game was played over a month before when the Colts first round game was. That’s very early to start pulling the plug. The Jets game was a week and a half closer.

The Jags might not be a better team than the Jets, but they get up for the Colts and they have a QB much better suited to deal with the Colts rush.

I missed the first half

who would have thought that taking a 3 semester hour course in 3 weeks would require so much reading?

thanks for your time

Im an over opinionated talk radio caller from way back in several markets and have just sat out the discussion because I didnt want to talk to an no nothing local host who doesnt care for :35 seconds. I’m totally afraid and rightfully so that this is a precision, complex, passing offense and not going full speed for more than 2 weeks is an absolute death sentence. They will not be sharp and when it starts going poorly the pressure in the building will be so much more immense than we can imagine it will make all of us sick. And that opponent? A 50/50 chance it’s NE because they arent losing to a wild card team. peace folks

I think we put to much...

on that point. It’s not like team sits down for 4 weeks and does nothing like college teams waiting for their bowl game. They only get 10 practices or something. Colts can practice the same way they have all year.

So breaking a record of NE and getting 23 straight wins

a record that has never been done before dosen’t make the Jags game an exception form the rest policy? I think this record is ours alone now and it was why they play the starters the whole game if it wasnt for this record they would have rest after the usual 2 or 3 quasters to maintain sharpness

I found the worst site ever

Profootballfocus.com. It’s horrendous. It’s got some player calculations and they make no sense at all. They have Addai at a -10.8 running off the left tackle but he is averaging 5.3 yards doing that. LOLWUT?

It's making me angry

It’s so far off. Also their sack numbers are off.

the grader probably hates Addai's jumpcut and docks him everytime he does it

ignoring that it’s been working most of the year and when it’s really on it makes Ray Lewis look like a chump.

They also have Jamey Richard listed as a TE

And yes they are insane with their subjective rankings. They also hate Charlie Johnson’s run blocking as well. They hate left tackles.

Dallas Clark as 7th best TE

And Peyton Manning as 4th best QB.
