Week 17: Wednesday Colts Injury Report

This hasn't been posted yet, so I thought I'd try my hand at it...

Twenty-nine players appeared on today's injury report, but only 16 missed any time.  Details after the jump...

Did Not Participate: Donald Brown (illness), Austin Collie (rested), Keyunta Dawson (knee), Kyle DeVan (illness), Dwight Freeney (rested), Charlie Johnson (foot), Antonio Johnson (shoulder), Jacob Lacey (biceps), Robert Mathis (quad), Fili Moala (knee), Jerraud Powers (hamstring), Gijon Robinson (knee), Clint Session (knee), Chad Simpson (concussion).

Limited Participation: Melvin Bullitt (shoulder), Pierre Garçon (hand).

Full Participation: Joseph Addai (shoulder), Antoine Bethea (foot), Gary Brackett (foot), Ryan Diem (elbow), Aaron Francisco (hand), Cody Glenn (shoulder), Mike Hart (ankle), Tim Jennings (ankle), Daniel Muir (shoulder), Jamey Richard (shoulder), Tony Ugoh (Knee), Adam Vinatieri (right knee), Reggie Wayne (foot)

Concerns: Two illnesses... let's hope it's because they caught head colds and not something more serious.  Chad Simpson with a concussion - this is serious folks, given the new rules regarding being deemed ready to play again.  Gijon with a knee injury - Polian alluded to this in his interview with NFLN (in fact, called Gijon the starting TE which confused the hell out of me, but oh well)... hopefully it's something he can play through in Buffalo this week so he can spell Clark.

Notable: peytonsthebest noticed quite quickly that Manning and his precious butt no longer appear on the report.

thanks i have been lazy and didn't feel like doing it haha

i think it looks promising, not really worried and many will be out just because it is a meaningless game so really this report at the end of the week wont mean much probably.

Thanks LB.

I definitely don’t like to hear “concussion” or multiple illnesses on the injury report. Just when Simpson was starting to look like a real football player…

thank god

that AB isn’t on there anymore

AV, maybe?

I assume they meant Adam since V is right next to B.

Just saw that

skimmed over it before, and while reading comments hoped that AB was in reference to Bethea

Adtoine Betheatieri?

He kicks… ass!

I'm happy Peyton's behind is all better.

ANGELSFAITH

I would have sent this to your email address had you posted it in your profile, but perhaps it’s good for others to see as well… thanks for putting forth an effort to return this site to normalcy. I noticed that you and a few others have been a bit more active than normal in that endeavor

Hint:

His last name rhymes with “Wango” :-)

Lol, sorry :-)

You remember that VH1 show “I Love New York”? Well the guy New York chose was given the nickname Tango since his mom was a ballroom dancer, so either Mr. Boston or Chance, of Real Chance of Love, began calling him Tango Wango :-)

Agreed!

Reading some of the comments here, at 18 to 88, Colts.com, and other places, it’s obvious folks feel strongly about their Colts! That’s a good thing, of course, but it sure has led to some extreme comments on both sides of the argument.

And it’s definitely good to come here and find friendly banter about football again.

Little disappointed to see Don Brown back on there

Hopefully, he will play. I think he still needs a few more reps.

by metal_militia on Dec 30, 2009 8:01 PM EST reply actions

Agreed...

Addai needs the rest, and Brown needs the reps. Same with Hart, though, so maybe he’ll get more playing time this week. I’m originally from Michigan, so i’d really like to see Hart do well.

Bills' game is a must lose situation

Going 14-2 could end a little bit of the what-ifs talk more than if we went 15-1 by winning against the Bills. So, losing the Bills’ game would be in fact good for dampening the public hoopla surrounding Bill Polian and the coaching staff just a tad bit, IMO.

As far as the players, not sure. I was talking to a co-worker of mine that is a big Pats fan, he told me that he felt that the Patriots of 2007 almost squeaked through the playoffs barely based on the momentum of their undefeated season. Though they were playing playoffs Ds, except for maybe 1 divisional round game against the Jaguars, their offense was not as dominant or sharp as it was in the regular season. It almost seemed like there was enough of their intensity drained offensively in the pursuit of a perfect regular season. They just were not sharp in the Chargers AFCCG or in the Super Bowl offensively, in fact it was their experienced but older D that kept them in those games. Credit does need to go to the Ds that they were facing but based on how the entire year went, a little more was expected of the Patriots than scoring 21 and 14 points in the AFCCG and Super Bowl against the Chargers and the Giants, IMO. Both these teams, they had played much better offensively against them in the regular season.

If there was any element of truth to that, the end of perfection could serve as a test of character of our players’ veteran leadership and could help them re-charge their batteries. People think that winning the SB (or winning back-to-back SBs) would be the only way they can make up for giving up on the perfect season so timidly but they are wrong. They were never related to each other in the first place, so one would not make up for the lack of the other whatsoever. I expect this team to play loose knowing they have only 1 thing to play for now. The key however is the younger players, they are not used to stopping their momentum on a dime and resume it later in the playoffs. All the healthy younger players should get playing time – especially Brown. It does not make up for the disappointment caused by the decision from the GM and coaching staff but I sure would welcome a Thursday night opener in Indianapolis for the defending SB champion, maybe a Manning Bowl II.:)

Just trying to stay positive amid all the negativity floating around right now to get through this week :-).

From 14-0 to 14-3!

You forgot the following players on the injury list:

Deep Depression: Peyton Manning, Jeff Saturday, Joseph Addai, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark.

Stewing Emotions: Peyton Manning, Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark.

Looks like you got the wrong ones

I think you are the one with deep depression, uncontrollable fits of anger and “type before you think” syndrome.

Hey, I was as mad as you are right now with Polian’s decision as a Colts fan. That anger has moved to sadness as a fan but if the players respond the same way to this loss the way fans do, we wouldn’t have seen the turnaround that we saw in 2006 after the Jaguars 375 rushing yards game. We wouldn’t have been able to turn around that 3-4 end to that 2006 season whatsoever. It is like whether you support or oppose the Iraq war, don’t cast aspersions on the soldiers that are fighting on the field for us. In this case, it is the Colts players that got us dreaming of a perfect season in the first place. They need our cheering now more than before to start and complete the most important journey remaining, winning the SB.

by chad72 on Dec 31, 2009 2:50 PM EST up reply actions

I feel for the players, too.

As a fan, it hurts that we didn’t go for 19-0.
I’m just imagining how the players feel. Talk about a dilemma. Not care about 19-0 or be out of line with team leadership.
It hurts me to know what they must be going through.

Any banners or poster boards at the game I hope will clearly delineate between our displeasure with MGMT decisions and our strong feelings the players we love!
