This time of year the topic of conversation of many colt fans.... do we play them or sit them. i would like to offer another suggestion. Coach them up. Work them hard in practice then play them how you feel during the final games according to how they respond to the different strategies we have implemented. If past playoff history has told us anything it is that teams have had success in beating us by essentially stopping our short yardage running game, getting Manning off of his comfort spot while also taking advantage of our bland cover two defense. i would like to suggest the following.
1) A blitzburgh type of package.
Lets give other teams something to think about. Lets try working on dictating on defense instead of making halftime adjustments, coming from all different directions with correct secondary coverages. Just showing this blitz package could rattle QBs into turnovers or quick reads. Coach um up
2) Two backfield sets
Let us practice using an h-back as a lead blocker. This lead blocker is great at taking out the zone linebacker in a 3-4 defense. You can also pass to the h-back in this formation. Coach um up
3) Designed roll outs
Teams that have been successful in slowing us down have done so in part with push up the middle. Lets practice blocking assignments implemented in partial roll outs giving Manning some more time to work his craft. Coach um up
I believe if we would take this approach the team would remained focused and be sharp for a long playoff push. GO COLTS
