Sorgi to IR

Per Adam Shefter's twitter page:

Colts have placed QB Jim Sorgi on Injured Reserve with a shoulder injury and signed fourth-year veteran offensive tackle Michael Toudouze. from UberTwitter

I guess it's a good thing we've got the Iron Man under center because Curtis Painter doesn't exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy thinking of him running the offense.  I'm curious why it took this long to put him on IR, he's been "injured" for quite some time now.

wonder if the Colts will want to get a veteran QB

like a Jeff Garcia to sign on as a back-up for the rest of the season, as an insurance policy?

They took a look at J.P. Losman

recently.

How did Sorgi injure himself?

Don’t tell me that the clipboard is that heavy?! However, I do like MixFMKyle’s suggestion of signing Jeff Garcia as a back-up for insurance.

Peyton Manning makes it Wayne on them hoes!!!!

this explains

why the Colts tried out so many QB’s. Sorgi has been on the injury report for a while

Toudouze a former Colts draft pick (2005?)

as I recall, he was a fifth rounder from Texas A&M (?), and was released this september.
decent run blocker.

Yep,

I saw this coming. I was pretty sure that Sorgi will go to IR as soon as the Colts need a roster spot, and getting Toudouze was a good move as our only tackles before were CJ, Ugoh, and Diem, and CJ is injured.

Good move all around.

My hope is that

This says more about Mathis’ health than anything else. You would think they would have picked up another DE if he had anything serious wrong with him (especially with Dawson’s health issues this season).

they picked up a DE last week

Ervin Baldwin from Chicago

I anticipate a backup QB battle

next training camp. That should at least provide us with some entertainment during that time.

Yeah...

And I think Painter is a good QB. He will make rookie mistakes when and if he takes the field in the final games, but he has the luxury of learning from one of the best QB’s to ever play football. And I think he will develop into a good QB one day. I mean when Sorgi plays decent, but with him in I don’t ever expect to win a game. Sorry, but I just don’t. Even with his decent numbers…during his six years in the NFL, Sorgi has thrown 156 passes, completing 99. He has thrown six touchdowns and one interception, for a passer rating of 89.9. I want to see what Painter does in a regular season game against teams who aren’t playing rookies trying to play for a job.
