Sorgi on IR - Suspicious

I dont think Sorgi is injured, or if he is injured then he isnt injured badly enough to land on the IR, heres what I think is really going on.

  • Painter is playing well, outplaying Sorgi.
  • Colts realise Painter can be their new long term back up
  • They want to get rid of Sorgi, hes wasting a roster spot that could come in handy. They have a few options
  1. Relase him.
  2. Keep him
  3. Exaggerate his injury and put him on IR

Seems to me they would go for number 3. They cant do number 1, because Sorgi must no a hell of a lot about how the offense works, and to release him now would mean another team snap him up and grill him for information on the colts. This close to the playoffs itd be insane.  Keeping him is wasting a roster spot, so if they cant put him on IR then hell they should go for it.

Disclaimer: Some of you might call this heavy ridiculous speculation, and youd be damn right. Ive made a lot of assumptions, all of which could be wrong, but I think it could be a possibility and was worth pointing out.

I wouldn't call it "ridiculous"

Heavy speculation maybe, considering Sorgi’s been on the injury list for some time, but I’ve been wondering the same thing myself. Clearly we have a backup (Painter) that has at least proven himself fairly serviceable in the preseason, and has had time to sit and learn from Peyton. Add to that the fact that we have injuries at much more dire positions at the moment (O-Line, D-Line) and we needed a roster spot.

I think this is the Colts’ brass admitting what we fans already know: As Peyton goes, so goes our seaon. It doesn’t matter who the backup is, so they might as well IR Sorgi and help the team in other places.

Doesn't seem too far out of the question to me

Sounds like a smart way to deal with a “sticky situation”

How can you not love a team that does this?

Wow 3 Fansposts on Sorgi,

I wonder if he knows how popular he is around here today?

if he's not injured enough to be on IR

I believe he becomes a free agent anyhow. There are rules against using IR to stash someone.

Never doubt Peyton Manning, he’ll make you look silly
Joseph Addai is a good running back.

Mark it zero.

Am I the only one who cares about the rules?

If Taylor Swift were to try and tackle me, I'd let her.
Girl, you don't need to be a 10, as long as you have a good smile and smell like bacon.
