Dream Draft

RD 1 - DT Peria Jerry (Ole Miss) - The Colts deseperately needs a run stuffer.

RD 2 - WR Juaquin Iglesias (Oklahoma) - If Marvin gets cut loose, Reggie and A-Gon will need help.

RD 3 - CB Domonique Johnson (Jackson State) - They need depth at CB.  Hopefully, Hayden stays.

RD 4 - OT Jason Watkins (Florida) - Not sure if Ugoh's the man at LT.  Watkins should push him.

RD 5 - RB Arian Foster (Tennessee) - A big physical back to help take the load off Addai and Hart.

RD 6 - DT Ra'Shon Harris (Oregon) - They need depth at DT.  Reid may not be back.

RD 7 - WR Demetrius Byrd (LSU) - A sleeper in the 7th round.  Garcon and Hall needs a push.

If the Colts receive a compensation pick, look for QB Tom Brandstater (Fresno State) - Sorgi needs a push as well.

Well, what do you all think?

There's a couple things I disagree with

Mainly the 2 WRs and no LBs, I’ll talk about it later, I’m about to leave work. But here’s an update on my running tab of worst drafts;

http://www.nepatriotsdraft.com/2008/05/2009-nfl-mock-draft.html

Let’s just put it this way, with Jerry still on the board, the Colts take Moala in the first round and Everette Brown goes 33rd, Moreno goes 37th (only RB drafted in round one is Shonn Greene by TB), Jerry goes 45th to the Giants, and the Colts take Javon Ringer in round 2.

I think we have a winner.

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

Tyson Jackson

going 9th to GB stands out, and this Meredith character from SC who I haven’t even seen in the top 10 for OT goes #32 to Pittsburgh? this one is pretty bad, but hey as it says at the top they finished #4 out of 94 mock drafts in 2008. Who are the other 90 idiots out there is the question, and how do we see their mocks?

Weather out here is SWEET! NICE!

Thoughts on that draft

Jerry – he has a few faults that may come into play, but I would think he’s a perfect fit for the defense.

The two WRs – both work imo. Iglesias I think has a good chance to fit the Colts profile better than most, although the additional question is if he’ll be there in the 2nd if they wait for a receiver until then. There’s some real concern about Byrd’s football smarts, as well as his hands/concentration as documented, but if the guy lasts until the 7th round, I would definitely draft him there. I thought he showed some legit deep threat potential as LSU, although maybe not as much as say Mike Wallace of Ole Miss (then again Byrd didn’t play with as good a QB as Jevon Snead the last two years).

Dominique Johnson – I’ve seen him in a Colts mock before, but don’t understand the appeal of this guy, personally. Granted all I’ve seen of him was Senior Bowl week, where he looked absolutely horrid, but even excusing that, a 3rd round pick? Well, I wouldn’t do it myself There are some good corners I’d rather draft in that round or the 4th instead, most definitely. Eye of the beholder I suppose.

Watkins – seems a solid enough pick, although it would help if he might have some RT potential.

Foster – I like Foster myself, I think whoever drafts him could be getting a steal … but I don’t think that will happen with the Colts. Polian doesn’t like backs with only one speed, and those that he did acquire, were drafted much later than this or not drafted at all. And with the whole fumble/character concerns, plus the question of how well he can pass protect (a must for the Colts, #18 is the franchise), I don’t see it. Again though, I think whoever does bit on Foster on Day Two might have a gem on his hands, after how his collegiate career completely soured at Tennessee.
