Longtime Colts nemesis Fred Taylor was cut by the only team he has ever played for: The Jaguars. Fred still has some mileage left, and where ever he lands, he will help that team in the running game. Regardless of where he lands, it is clear the Jags are in full rebuilding mode with Taylor, Porter, and Florence all cut. In the span of just two years, the cornerstones of that team (Byron Leftwich, Marcus Stroud, and now Fred Taylor) are all gone. Tip to colts9318rock.

so does that mean that cleo lemon is next with his whopping 3 million a year for nothing contract?
I think the jags are going to find out that MJD is not nearly the rb he was with FT backing him up OR starting.
I think how the organization released him was kind of cheap considering he was the only real star the team had next to…well next to nobody. brunell was loved but nearly like FT. I think this team is on its way to LA right now
even though fred taylor could never catch a pass the guy was still scary good. I think they just let go the face of their franchise and will regret it. hes a gator and thats what jax fans mostly are…gator fans. I realize he still wants to start but hes not going to start for any team. the fact that taylor tried to lower his salary to stay and they refused says alot about this organization and how poorly its run.
seriously if they keep cleo lemon for 3 million but couldnt afford to restructure FT then somebody else needs to be fired….yeah Im talking about you del rio
and one more thing Id like to comment on after this release…werent the jags many $$$$ under the cap? they couldnt even give their best player in the history of the franchise his one million dollar bonus? they could give two worthless FAs 21 million on the spot who did nothing to ever earn that $$ yet they couldnt give their only star a poultry million compared to what he did for them….for without fred taylor, they are pretty much a forgotten team
now that seems cheaper than all the rest for the cheapness that took place
Dumb franchise
Seems that they rely on overrated RB Jones Drew (Bob Sanders kept knocking him and tossing him every time Drew “blocked” Bobzilla)
I think the jaguars will have a very tough 09 season, one of his best players is now out, but im surprised he got cut, maybe Garrard would have been normal, but Taylor?
Overrated? What? MJD is awesome. I’d take him over Addai in a heartbeat.

You know that 230-240 carry mark where Addai starts to break down?
MJD has never had 200 carries in a season. Addai has twice, once without his production slowing at all.

and MJD has fumbled 7 more times in 100 less carries.

200 carries a season is all he’d need. That’s 12.5 carries a game. He could even have less than that, or just split carries with another solid running back, like I dunno, Rashad Jennings.

yeah, overrated
Probably Addai aint better but still, MJD is an overrated player who might have a some future. Now that Taylor is out of the jags , we will see what he’s truly made of…

I think it’s fairly obvious that the way the Jags were using him while Taylor was there was perfect. If he came to the Colts with another stud running back splitting carries, the Colts running game would insane.

Moving To LA
Off topic, but if the Jags move to LA, would they still be part of the AFC South or would there be a realignment.

I don’t understand the constant talk about them moving to LA. Football teams in LA don’t last because LA isn’t a football city. I seriously don’t see the Jags moving to LA. They’d be worse off than they are now. If anyone, specifically speaking the owner, has any sense at all he’ll clean house and start anew. Do it the right way, build up through the draft, become a respectable organization both on and off the field, and you’ll put butts in the seats. That’s the only way it can be done right.

Off topic
You really think they are trying to give L.A. an NFL team because they aint a football city? The jags would do better in L.A. in my opinion. There is a whole market analysis and being the NFL, they wouldnt put a team in any city. Anyway, this is off topic

No, I think they aint giving LA a football team because they aint a football city. The Jags would inevitably move away from LA just like every other team has. LA is a huge market, but not when it comes to football.

Actually, LA is a football city.
But since the Rams left (because of Georgia, not a lack of fans) LA has been a college football city.
Its been so long since a pro football team was here, and the Lakers are the only successful pro club in quite some time, alot of people have moved toward Basketball. However, I bet that if LA got a team, in a few years, they’d do ok.
Just observation. Could be completely wrong.

Would be interesting to see how the team's culture would be changed by a move if it happened
The Raiders seemed to have returned to Northern California much uglier, dirtier, and with a nastier fan base than when they went down there (at least that’s what we Bay Area snobs like to believe). I don’t have a sense for how bad boy the Jags are (or aren’t)… I just can’t see people down there sportin’ that teal gear – it’s just too Florida.
I remember going to the Raiders games when they were here
and I also had Lambs, I mean Rams, season tickets at the time.
I think it is contingent upon where exactly a stadium was located. The Raiders have always attracted the “bad boys” and South Central LA, where the Coloseum is located, is definitely full of “bad boys”. Then you take Orange County (where I live) and the Rams, a completely different atmosphere. Point being, if a stadium were built in say Westwood, one would see an entirely different fanbase than that of the Raiders. Please don’t classify all Southern Californians based on the Raiders…:D
Personally, I don’t care. I would root just as hard against them (Jags) as I do the Chargers…

Don't worry - I definitely don't classify all Southern Californians based on the Raiders
I grew up in SoCal (in fire-ravaged / current mudslide country Sierra Madre, somewhat near the site of the proposed stadium), so am aware of the micro-cultures in “L.A.”
In any case, peytonsthebest, you’re my favorite Southern Californian behind my parents and brother because you’re a Colts fan. And you might even be ahead of my brother, who’s a lifelong Dolphins fan… go figure. :-)
No worries!
I saw this and made an assumption:
at least that’s what we Bay Area snobs like to believe
Frankly, I would rather be up north.
And thanks, I believe your my favorite Northern Californian…
Ok, way too much love… ;D

What makes you think the owner has any sense? That’s been one of the problems. For their sake, maybe that’s what they’re trying to do now – clean house and start anew.

I never said he had any sense. I said if he had any sense, he would do what I said.
