TJ Interested in playing for the Colts

TJ Houshmandzadeh says if he could come to Indy he would!

Obviously, our cap situation won't allow for it and they haven't released Marvin so there's no reason to get too excited. But it's nice to know that a guy we all drool over in Free Agency would actually like to come here too! Would he take a pay cut to play with Peyton? Who knows. Better questions would PEYTON take a pay cut to play with TJ - all that Pro Bowl rapport for nothing!? Maybe not...

His comments about Indy are toward the bottom of the article:

More than many other free agents, at least TJ seems like Colts material as far as attitude and work ethic are concerned.

GO HORSE!!!!!

Shudder

TJ, Reggie, and Gonzo… with a dash of Dallas.

55 TDs for Manning. Easy.

Easily the best receiving corps in the league.

This line will remain in my signature until the Colts draft Rashad Jennings in 2009.

Manning needs to get back his records from Brady.

He never will

‘cuz the Colts won’t run up the score like the Pats, and opposing teams will eat up a lot of the clock running the ball down our throats.

Well...

If Peyton throws one touchdown each game to:
TJH
Reggie
Gonzo/Marv
Dallas

That’ll be 60 (won’t play the final game)

That’s an average of 28 points per game, which wouldn’t be running up the score.
:)

The Colts didn’t need to run up the score on anyone when Peyton hit 49. That’s what made that year so awesome. He missed a handful of quarters because they were blowing people out, and his passer rating that season was insanely good.

This line will remain in my signature until the Colts draft Rashad Jennings in 2009.

by KingRichard on Feb 20, 2009 4:33 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

he had a lot more opportunity then. The D gave up a lot of points in a few games that year and the time of possession against them was much lower. It’ll be tough for Peyton to even get to 40 again, most likely.

Who ISN'T TJ interested in at this point?

Although I will say, a TJ-Wayne combination could be pretty epic.

by phantom818 on Feb 20, 2009 7:57 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

I took that as him responding to a question, more than anything

He even remarked earlier that the Colts won’t have the cash to spend on him.

Especially when he hits the open market, there’s more money to spend nowadays than quality free agents to sign, hence guys landing those big contracts.

by project geo on Feb 20, 2009 8:40 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

Or maybe TJ doesn't want money

Maybe TJ is tired of Chad Johnson’s loud mouth and wants a ring. Maybe that’s why he said he would likely not play for the Bengals next season and hold out if he was franchised.

But even if TJ pulls a Randy Moss with the Colts and sign’s for 6 mill, the Colts would still have to get rid of Marvin in order to afford TJ Houshmandzadeh.

PS.
I sure wish Albert Haynesworth would be willing to pull some kind of a Randy Moss and sign with the Colts for less money. Because right now the Colts need him far more then any other team in the NFL.

Go Colts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don’t think the money will motivate TJ that much, but he won’t sign for the vet minimum either.

I’d love to see him as a Colt, but obviously it’s exceptionally unlikely to happen.

Dude, enough about Haynesworth. He doesn’t deserve to be on a team like the Colts anyways.

This line will remain in my signature until the Colts draft Rashad Jennings in 2009.

by KingRichard on Feb 22, 2009 8:21 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

Why doesn't he

He is clearly the missing piece in the Colts winning another super bowl. Right now no team in the NFL needs Haynesworth more then the Colts. But just for the record, I know he won’t sign with the Colts not after they gave Hayden that big contract.

And I’ll tell you about the last 2 teams Haynesworth deserves to be with

1.The Patriots-there a bunch of cheaters and steroid addicts

2.The Chargers-There a bunch of steroid addicts.

Go Colts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you know that

then why do you continue to discuss him? Please, just stop it.

by KMR24 on Feb 23, 2009 12:37 AM EST up reply actions   0 recs

I still say Haynesworth should go to Dallas

And Jerry Jones gets richer by selling tickets to practices as fans line up to see Gurode exact his revenge.

Willyduer had it right about our D in 2004—we don’t allow that many pts anymore and PM wouldn’t make it rain all day without cause. Plus the RBs have to score sometimes, right? And our OL is not likely to be at the level of NE’s OL in 2007—you kow, the “Brady has time to knit a sweater back there” OL.

If I had to guess about PM breaking 40 TDs again, it’ll be in a few years when some of our D stalwarts have moved on and some others are injured and suddenly we need to score 28-35 every game once more. Frankly I hope it doesn’t happen, but if it does, that’s my guess as to what will facilitate it.

I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.

by Bobman on Feb 23, 2009 5:31 PM EST reply actions   0 recs

He's not going to Dallas, he's going to Washington

Dallas has too high of a pay-roll to sign Hayneswoth. + last I heard, Dallas was more interested in signing Ray Lewis anyways which would be good for us Colts fans since next season we do have to got to Baltimore to play.

PS.
Don’t ask me why the Colts have to play the Ravens every year. It makes no sense to me.

Go Colts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by PatsR18*andDONEwithoutCHEATING on Feb 24, 2009 4:19 PM EST up reply actions   0 recs

The Colts don't HAVE to play the Ravens every year

That’s just the way it turns out, according to the following formula:

1. Each team plays the other three teams in their division twice: once at home, and once on the road (six games).
2. Each team plays the four teams from another division within its own conference once on a rotating three-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games).
3. Each team plays the four teams from a division in the other conference once on a rotating four-year cycle: two at home, and two on the road (four games).
4. Each team plays once against the other teams in its conference that finished in the same place in their own divisions as themselves, not counting the division they were already scheduled to play: one at home, one on the road (two games).

This year, the Colts have the AFC East to satisfy rule #2, and they also play against the AFC North and AFC West #2 finishers, i.e., the Ravens and the Broncos, respectively.

Pretty easy – took all of 10 minutes to Google that information.

I toyed with other options

but that can come back to haunt you. I’ve posted my share of stupid comments so hopefully people will take mercy on me if I’ve shown it to others ;-) Right, KingRichard?!?!

That said, I do love the read more, think more, post less mantra.

I'm definitely bookmarking this

So if he starts talking about how you don’t provide actual information again, I can just get shake to put it as a footnote under one of his famous “PWNEDLOLOLOL!” type images. In fact, I haven’t seen a good one in a couple days shake. I think you’re due one.

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

That screen grab needs to be a permanent fixture around here. We can just add the appropriate words as necessary.

I can't see Houz here in Indy..

TJ is pretty much a Reggie Wayne clone. Colts need s-p-e-e-d and can draft WR depth in draft (deep WR draft this 2009).
I’m thinking Joey Galloway as a great pickup regarding speed and again, draft a newbie WR and groom him to replace Galloway in 3 years.
TJ’s a class act (and so is Galloway). but I think maybe the Vikings would be a better fit for him (albeit no Manning throwing to him).
