COLTS and Joey GALLOWAY !!
Galloway would bring much needed speed/separation ability (and great HANDS) to the Colts at a much lower price tag than Marvin. He's still got 3 great years in the tank, he's a class act, and would himself be shocked at how well a QB like Peyton could get the ball to him (Galloway's had 25 QB's pass to him in 15 years - nooooo stability at all, yet STILL has over 10,000 yards receiving !!).
He's a field-stretcher, backup punt returner, and again can most of all GET OPEN. That's the #1 quality of any WR imho.
After getting Galloway, Colts should draft best WR on the board and groom him to replace Joey full-time when JG retires in 3 years and relieve him in spells during games for those 3 years.
What do ya'll think ?

I think
that we just got rid of an old as balls receiver so there is no way in hell Polian could justify signing this wrinkly old fart
lol
Couldn’t agree more.. I still think the Colts need to stay away from WR’s in general…they have plenty of good ones. Focus on the teams’ weaknesses!!
You are kidding me right?
We let Marv go just to bring a 37 year old receiver to replace him? Really doesnt make a lot of sense to me, (maybe if he was 32…) and considering that you would prefer galloway over marv just insults me…
Not necessarily
I think his point was that we could get Galloway for cheaper. Harrison wants huge money but Galloway probly isnt expecting too much. Given the choice i think anyone would take Harrison over Galloway but we just couldnt afford Harrison.
Replace the name Galloway
With Laveraneus Coles and you might have a good idea.
Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.
Replace the name Galloway and Coles with neither, and you’ve got a brilliant idea.
This line will remain in my signature until the Colts draft Rashad Jennings in 2009.

Based on what?
I hope you’re basing that off salary and not player ability. Considering Coles has had a significantly better career than T.J. has with Chad Pennington, Patrick Ramsey, Old Favre, and every backup QB the Jets have had on their team when Pennington has been hurt over the years. And he’s 3 months younger than T.J. And yeah, I think he’s as good or better than T.J. and significantly faster. The only knock he has is his injuries and lack of hamstrings. I also think he’d be much less expensive, and would be more of a fit for what type of receiver we need right now.

Oh and by the way I agree with you
Don’t want to spend too much on a receiver. Don’t think we need one. I actually think we’re fine. I agree with you that it’s aggrevating to hear all the “We need a WR!” talk. I mean, if you HAVE to surround a QB with #1 picks at receiver, TE, receiving RBs etc… wouldn’t that detract from him? I’m pretty sure Utecht and multiple other dudes have looked phenomenal with 18 tossing them the ball. I mean (don’t freak out people, it’s just an idea) couldn’t we take a WR in, I don’t know…maybe the second (GASP!) or even third (EEEEEEEK!) round and still have the best QB I’ve ever seen play and possibly one day being the best at all time at QB?

I would have to agree. Depending on whose left on the board, a WR isn’t a must. I still think Garcon can be a good sidekick to Reggie and Gonzo, even possibly Hall if he stays injury free. Dungy did mention in the offseason that he was impressed with the way Garcon has transitioned to the NFL coming from a smaller school, so I think Garcon can fill the role. But at the same time, I wouldn’t be dispointed if they did draft a WR in the first round if there wasn’t any better player for the Colts available. If anything, I wouldn’t mind having the depth there if a WR is indeed taken at whichever round.

Significantly better???
He has 7 more TDs from 34 more games; they have very similar YAC and 1st down figures. Coles breaks off more long runs so his avg is higher, but Housh makes more catches.
I’d say they’re pretty similar in performance, although obviously they play in different styles.

Yes, significantly better
Call me crazy, and I just might be, but I consider Carson Palmer just a slight upgrade from a 37-38 year old Testaverde, Chad Pennington (who could never take advantage of his speed), Patrick Ramsey, Tim Hasselbeck, Old Mark Brunell, Brooks Bollinger, 42 year old Testaverde, Kellen Clemens, and Old Brett Favre.
You put those numbers up without Chad Johnson taking heat off you and the double teams, I’ll be impressed.

Defense! Defense! Defense!
The last 2 year playoff exits was screaming for better defense! (and off course a few holding calls on OT trying to french kiss Freeney) A hunker down defense that could stop an opponent when it really counts is what we need. Manning can throw at a rock and make the rock look good (no offense to reggie, clark and gonzo as they are great receivers). I will scream bloody hell if Polian does not pick DT for the 1st and 2nd round.
2 tipped passes
In the 2007 loss weren’t the fault of the defense. The dropped balls weren’t either. The missed kick in 2005 wasn’t the fault of the defense, in fact they’re the ones that put us in the position to tie it after the Steelers locked down the Colts until the very end. This year the defense didn’t fail on a 3rd and 2. The past two years, the Colts D held SD’s potent offense in check. They were intended to keep teams from beating us, which they did. They were not designed to take over games and win them for us. Not to mention, our D took us to played a significant roll in our SB victory. In all honesty, during the playoffs, I’ve felt our defense has outperformed our offense.

I hate to say it (because I LOVE our offense)
but I have to agree.
They came through with alot of clutch plays during the regular season also. The two I remember best are, of course, vs. the Texans and then vs. the Jags (2nd game) – who scored the game winning touchdown to assure our spot in the playoffs?? :)

Playoffs exit
in 2007 Volek drove SD 70+yds for a winning TD when their potty mouth QB and Gates were out in the 2nd half… I guess I shouldn’t say it’s the defense or for that matter it’s the offense, but penetration from upfront is/was non-existent from our D-line.
