Mock Draft Survey
We've had some time for the combine to be analyzed so let's check the mocks
Draft-Tek: WR Kenny Britt, DT Fili Moala, RB Andre Brown
I really like that draft. Britt is bigger than your average Colts WR, but he fits their profile as a good route runner, good hands, willing blocker, has speed but not a burner (4.52 40). Moala is a talented player who wasn't always shown the on-the-field effort. That's not someone I want as a 1st round pick, but in the late 2nd at a position of need the potential reward could definately be worth the risk. Andre Brown is a versatile back, who can contribute catching the ball and blocking, he wasn't explosive in college but his 40 time shows a very good size-speed combo (4.49 at 228lbs, highest speed score of the combine), he wasn't a big producer in college due to split time and injury, but has shown great talents. He remind you of anyone?
Walterfootball: WR Hakeem Nicks, DT Sen'Derrick Marks, QB Nate Davis
Much less of a fan of this draft. I like Nicks fine, but in their mock they committed the cardinal sin of passing on Jerry. Marks is fine for a 2nd rounder if Jerry doesn't fall. Davis is a waste with more likely/immediate needs to be filled with guys that go before Indy's next pick. Mitch King, Andre Brown, Shonn Greene, Mike Hamlin or Emanuel Cook (for monsterbox's 4-2-5), LB Dannell Ellerbe and a number of CBs would all be a bigger help to Indy than Davis.
The rest (13 latest of HailRedskins database).
DT Peria Jerry x4
RB Chris Wells
WR Hakeem Nicks
DT Ron Brace
CB Mike Mickens
OC Max Unger

Nate Davis = beast
The guy is like Kordell Stewart, he can do anything…….maybe not. Polian even went to look at Davis a few times at Ball State. But your right. Other problems must be adressed………….
Nate Davis = beast, God I hope he doesn't go to Detriot.......
and not only the pick
I don’t think he could beat out Sorgi as a rookie, with some time in the system I think he would but for at least the 1st year he’d be eating up a roster spot and sitting behind Sorgi.

Maybe as a 6th or 7th round pick
people have him going in the 2nd and 3rd. I would be pissed if we got him that high. He does have a below average IQ that could hurt his chances of being picked early.

Check this out. Davis would be an awsome pick up for some one.

Pat White
I’d take Pat White over Nate Davis any day of the week. Everyone keeps saying Pat White’s hurting his stock by not working out at other positions, but the only thing he keeps doing is proving he’s the best QB of the draft. They’re the only one that says he looks like he could play in the NFL with his arm and accuracy. And he throws the best ball by far. I kind of feel bad for the guy. Just because he’s fast and shorter than a typical QB, they look down on him. Even though the other guys look like crap.
Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

Kenny Britt
I agree with you on those mocks, the Draft-Tek scenario is more likely, but I also think it’s a worst-case for the Colts. I also thought Britt was less than a polished route-runner, and Heyward-Bey seems like more of a playmaker, with smarts and lots of upside—potentially a better fit.
Do you think they could reach for Ziggy Hood or Ron Brace, or Brian Robiskie in the first round? I’ve read that Hood’s performance at the Combine may now legitimate a first-round pick. And if they somehow get a DT in the first, you think they’d ideally want Juaquin Iglesias in the second? Or maybe Andre Brown? And do we know if Shonn Greene can catch, because I’ve only seen Youtube highlights and that doesn’t show much in terms of his hands.

Hood
At this point Hood’s stock is climbing quickly. I’d not only be fine with taking Hood, I’d be grateful. I don’t think Jerry will be there, Raji might be a top 10 pick, and I’d put Hood as the third best DT. I heard his interview on Sirius, he’s a legit 1st rounder. He’s extremely intelligent, knows exactly the technique for a DT, and can squat 730 lbs and bench 475. He’s ridiculously strong and ran faster than anybody could’ve expected. I’d love him.
Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.
He can squat 730
I am not arguing the numbers here, but is he even human? Can humans really squat that much? Basically he and a twin could lift one of those small new cars like the Smart ForTwo. I am just mystified.
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.
Greene's hands are unproven
he was just barely into double digit catches for his college career. His hands looked good in the few opportunities he had, but he was getting maybe one pass a game thrown at him.

I watched him every game he played at Iowa
I’ve seen him make some pretty good grabs on poorly thrown balls, and I’ve seen him drop one or two that should have been easy catches. It’s not like the guy has stone hands or anything, but he’s certainly not Marshall Faulk.
Weather out here is SWEET! NICE!
I'm not quite a stickler on catching
As I am about his pass protection. Addai can come in to catch, and has great pass protection. If Greene, or any RB, doesn’t have good pass protection, I’ll pass.
Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

he’s got the frame and the effort

Reading between the lines about guys who "take plays off"
The description of “Moala is a talented player who wasn’t always shown the on-the-field effort. " above has me wondering… when people are talked about like that or their rep is they "take plays off,” does it mean they are lazy, distracted, bored, physically or mentally tired? (I’ve heard this about Haynesworth, yet he can now buy his own personal jet for cash, so it is not exactly a toxic grade to get.) Or is part of it they (specifically DTs here) are out on the field for 12-15 consecutive plays and get a little bored/shell-shocked. The opponents send a blocking FB and RB at you three straight plays and you feel as if you are part of the leading surge at Omaha Beach on D-Day. Then they roll out to the other side to pass and you unconsciously think “whew, finally I can catch my breath and slack off” so your effort looks perfunctory. Seems to be a natural (non elite athlete) response.
If that IS what is meant, well, wouldn’t a rotation system of 4 plays in and out counteract it? He would be less tired, less mentally fatigued, and more hungry to get in and show what he could do if his time is limited. If he’s a big cheese in college and not worried about competition taking away his reps, or the only guy good enough for the coach to keep out there, it’s one thing. You have to put him out and live with his “laziness.” But if he’s rested and constantly pushed because of fewer reps and high-quality teammate competition, well, wouldn’t that motivate a typical person to make the most of his time on field?
If they give 100% 50% of the time, 90% 25% of the time, and 75% 25% of the time, I assume pro coaching and teammates and a rotation system with fewer reps could get that up to 100% 80% of the time, 90% 10% of the time and 80% the last 10. (Anybody who gives 75 out on the field and is not injured or sick is probably looking for work the next day). And that’s okay for me. We do not need the best DT in the NFL. If we got him, great, but nobody expects that.
Okay, I’ll quit playing team psychologist. But if my reasoning above holds water, then I am not too concerned about less mature guys not giving 100% every time in college.
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.
Shake I do find it funny
that you have both Mitch King and Shonn Greene listed in there, don’t get me wrong I love both of em and you know this, and I would love to see King especially because I think he fits our D, but I just found it funny
Weather out here is SWEET! NICE!
I'm not even a big fan of Greene for the Colts
but a lot of the non-Iowa fans on here bring him up. I actually like Andre Brown better for Indy. Since no one took the bait on the comparison. Brown really reminds me of Addai. He’s a bigger back so he’s less likely to “dance” like all the Addai haters bash him for, but has a lot of the same traits: hands, blocking, surprising fast 40, talented but not hugely productive in college,

I like the Donald Brown
I’ve liked him for awhile. He’s a little bigger than Addai, not quite as much as Andre, but he runs with power. He’s a power run and his build is that shortish thickly built type. He was a track star and has a 41.5 inch vertical. He’s also pretty good in the passing game. He’s a one cut runner with speed. But he’ll probably be a mid second round pick. A little higher than what you’re talking about.
Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.
I was messing around with Draftek
Spent a little time messing around with the rankings of team interest based on free agency and whatnot counting for what’s gone in free agency so far. I need to tweak it a little bit, but surprisingly, it turned out better than I thought it would. Some of the picks are off a bit, but I’ll tweak it later. I didn’t do the traded picks yet either, but honestly, I think it turned out better than I expected. Even Stafford dropping to the Redskins potentially makes a little bit of sense. I think I might drop their ranking though, didn’t think a 4 or whatever I put would put him to their pick. I’ll probably do the lockout and grabs too. But the Colts one actually turned out pretty good. Can’t say I’d complain about it. Even though I rated a LB at a 2 or a 3. Too bad I think they’re still going off of old rankings for players. Anyway, here it is.
Remember, this isn’t MY draft, just my manipulation of team needs.

percey harvin
the drafts ive seen lately have the colts taking harvin in the first round. if this happens talk about scarry. yea he might not have the forty time of howard-bey but he has true game speed if you watched florida win the national title you would have seen that. with a bad ankle he still tourched oklahomas linebackers and d line. if you put a player like that in the colts offenceive sets every d cordniator would have fits. plus with his speed returing punts and kicks. we might have really good field position to start with
