R the Colts actually interested in the FA market this year

As I was paging through the net, I came across a website where the guy was pretty convinced that the COLTS would be active in the FA market this year.   Specifically looking for a WR.  He never listed sources, but, acted pretty confident that Colts would address the WR position in FA market opposed to the draft.  He never said who they were interested in, but, did indicate that the Colts were interested in either Boldin or Johnson

It's hard to believe, with the colts history of skipping FA and building through the draft, that this is anything more then a rumor; but this is a different type of year for the Colts.

Besides this guys site, I have found nothing to support it.  So I just figured I would dismiss it as baseless internet rumor.

Then I remembered a quote from Bill Polion,  "how do you replace a HOF  WR?"

It would be hard to do that through the draft with an uproven rookie.  Not many rooky WR's have put up + 1000 yard numbers their first year, and the Colts certainly need that from Marvins replacement.

This is still just a full on rumor but, it got me thinking.

Here's the link, love to here if anyone can substanciate this rumor.

The cap room isn't there, it won't happen.

and I’m pretty sure that it’s Houshmanzedafdsjafkl;d and Boldin that’s he’s talking about. Housh is a UFA.

i think you have a typo

it’s actually spelled Houshmanzedafdsjafkl’d with an apostrophe instead of a colon.

typical rookie mistake

yep and yep

it probably is Housh, and they would have SC issues. Would letting M Harrison go free up enough cap room for that kind of move?

they could clear some space

but if they are clearing space Hayden and Saturday should be taken care of before bring in a FA.

A girl could dream

I love love LOVE me some Houshmenzealkvawmcoa2981kj, and would probably need a private moment or two if we were able to sign him. But I agree that you take care of your family first.

P.S.

If we DID sign Housh I could see a tie-in to an Indy-specific cheer to liven up Lucas.

How about when TJ scores a TD or a first down the stadium could yell:

HOOOOOOOOO
SSSSSSIIIIIERRRRRR
DADDDAAAAAAAAYYYY!

A mix of whosyourmama (from that annoying fantasy football commercial), hoosier (because this is fackin indiana), and daddy…well just because.

I’m a genius, I know.

This line will remain in my signature until the Colts draft Rashad Jennings in 2009.

I love it

I know it’s a long shot, but I really hope this could happen!

Give me AB

he had 595 yrds after the catch this year. He’s a little slow for a Colts WR but he is a monster to bring down.

Seriously

How about you guys chill out on the “Marvin’s gone, I’m 100% sure” talk until, I don’t know, Free Agency at the very least? You think you guys can hold on for two weeks? This is like the 10th thread in the past week talking about how there’s absolutely no way Marvin decides to take a paycut and stays with the team.

This topic has been beaten into the ground, rolled over, cleaned off, then been beaten into the ground again.

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

Now I'm not saying I necessarily want Marvin replaced but...

If we can’t dream, what are we doing here….I get what you are saying about it being overkill though

Weather out here is SWEET! NICE!

Keep dreaming

I saw on PTI today that Housh wants to go to Philly, which makes sense because the Eagles don’t have any really good receivers making TJ McNabb’s #1 guy.

Didn't hear the other two mentioned

but at least Philly’s a contender, which probably makes it more appealing to TJ than the other two. Also Philly does have enough money to give him the contract he wants, right?

He's from the West Coast (born in Cali, college at Oregon St.)

They (no idea who or what show since I just left ESPN on in the background all day) were saying that’s why he was strongly considering those two.

I'd rather see him go to any of those places

than to another AFC team, so if that’s where he ends up, good on him!

by LovinBlue on Feb 5, 2009 9:45 PM EST up reply actions

Yeah

And according to Foxnews Peyton is recruiting Haynesworth, so’s Mathis. And Haynesworth said today “They’d better hurry up. I want to go to a good team. Hey, throw that over here.” (Robert Mathis throws him a Colts helmet) “Now this is a good team, I’d love to go to this team.”

So basically, what do you get out of this situation? Don’t always believe where people are saying “They want to go here or here.”

I see about a 10% chance Haynesworth ends up a Colt, and I’m being generous.

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

I probably should've included this

http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/9182428/Haynesworth,-Collins-both-want-to-return-to-Titans

This week, Haynesworth was all smiles — and the island’s most sought-after man since Barack Obama. He was being recruited by players like Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning.

Manning said unlike in college, where the sell is often the campus, facilities, stadium and attractive coeds, it usually comes down to numbers in the pros. So he’s unsure the Colts can afford him.

“But Albert deserves to have a great contract,” Manning said. “I’d love for him to come to Indianapolis. If he doesn’t, I’d like him to leave the division … I’m getting tired of us having to triple team him to get him blocked. (Center) Jeff Saturday says it’s just a nightmare playing against him. So come to us, or go to the NFC.”

Colts defensive end Robert Mathis even tossed Haynesworth an Indianapolis helmet during an interview about his future with the Titans.

“I’ve been talking to players and asking how their coaching staff and stuff is, so I’m not going into this thing blind or anything,” Haynesworth said. “I’m just going to look at it and see how it goes.”

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

ESPN said Peyton told Fat Al

that he had to join the Colts or leave the division.

I know I can't stand him

For stomping on the dudes face, I mean, really, who does that? But think about it, and yes I know this is a complete pipe dream, but if we drafted Jerry/Hood/Marks/or King, that’d be one SICK line. Mathis and Freeney would both probably have 16-20 sacks. It’d be an insane line.
