61. Indianapolis-Fili Moala/DT/USC
62. Tennessee-Keenan Lewis/CB/Oregon State

So I have the Colts taking Hakeem Nicks over Peria Jerry.  I know people disagree with this, but I don't see Polian taking a defensive tackle in the first round.  However, the team has shown interest in Moala, and I think that is where the team will go in the second.

When you expand your rounds

take a look at Jason Williams from Western Illinois who will be visiting the Colts:

6’1 238 pounds, ran his 40 between 4.42-4.48 at his pro day (at Northwestern’s pro day?)

I was planning to

Jason Williams is a very good prospect. However, he is gonna be highly sought after in the fourth round and he may not fall to the Colts.

yea his stock is getting better and better, possible 3rd round pick?

Random thoughts from an eagles fan...

I think that we value Donald Brown way more than Beanie Wells. Beatty/Cook picks make a lot of sense, and would be great ones.

DHB will be picked higher IMO. Wouldn’t surprise me to see him crack the top15.

Tyson Jackson is a bit high to me.

Buffalo is awful in pass rushing, I think they are nearly a lock to go for a DE there.

Maualuga : I think Mayo plays SILB for the Pats, so I don’t see the need for another MLB, and they might want to replace Vrabel instead (Mathews ? Barwin ?)

We could take a TE

What if the Colts took a TE to fill Dallas Clark’s spot on the team. An athletic fast TE like Clark would allow the Colts to put Clark in the slot at WR. The draft is filled with fast TE’s with good hands. Take for example Chase Coffman, James Casey, and Jared Cook. They all could fill the roll of Dallas Clark. They all have the limited blocking ability that Clark has. That takes care of the WR problem. I know we drafted 2 TE’s last season. Tamme is more of a FB and Santi is a #2 TE. Clark is one of the fastest TE’s in the NFL and I have no doubt that he can play slot WR. Again this is just a thought………….

I like it.

I’ve dreamed Jared Cook would play for the Colts

Please, please draft a big Defensive Tackle. Please?

I like Cook

he’s just unfortunately coming out in a year when a receiving TE is at the bottom of Indy’s wishlist if it’s on it at all.

then there's still Tamme/Santi/Gijon for one spot on the field

I think a Jacob Hester/Brian Leonard type H-back would be most likely and far more useful than another TE.

Dallas doesn’t have the speed to break away from nickel backs and safeties. Against linebackers, he’s phenomenal but I don’t think he’s faster than most d-backs.

I really doubt a TE

they have 4 on the roster already (with a 5th on the PS)

Clark, Tamme, Santi, Gijon, Petrowski

if a guy that’s perfect for them drops far I’m not saying they wouldn’t take him, but TE doesn’t even vaguely resemble a need.

Yea I thought Tom Santi was looking not bad as a rookie early on, but then he got injured. I say avoid a TE in the draft and and let Santi and Tamme progress.

by ColtsFanNChiTown on Mar 15, 2009 5:02 PM EDT up reply actions

he had a sweet catch against the Texans

got into a tiny hole in the zone D, caught the ball and covered it up quick for a TD.

I dont think Gijon and Petrowski are long term fixes

I believe they were there only because of the injuries to Tamme and Santi. One is packing his baggs after the draft or preseason because there is no way we need another back up TE. Gijon and Tamme will both be forced to play FB because of the loss of D-Ried. Leeding me to believe the Colts might draft a TE.

Gijon is built more like a FB than a TE

one of the big reasons he’s been lightly regarded was because he’s very short for a TE (a little under 6’1") especially for a blocking TE.

you don't have to

I could be wrong, I can’t think of a specific time I was, but hypothetically I could be wrong at some point.

I sure hope they dont

I would much rather draft a WR and keep Clark at TE. That makes Santi and Tamme a waste of draft picks.

no Santi is a #2 TE and Tamme is a FB
