Only one, huh?
How many FA’s did we lose last year?

Scott, Klecko, Boiman, Charleston,
(and Utecht, but he doesn’t count since he was a RFA)
The others weren’t good enough to net picks.

Only?
I’ll take a free 4th round pick. There’s still legit talent there.
Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

I thought it was only one
In the context that I thought we had lost more than we did.
I was wrong, the other guys were role players at best.

Perfect
A fourth rounder is amazing. That’s what we needed. A first four round draft of RB, WR, OT, DT and another position would be amazing beyond words.

Hopefully not in that order though.

DT, WR, RB, OT
Jerry, Robiskie, Andre Brown, and Augustus Parish would be good for me.

Anything including Jerry
would be a plus for me. Add on Robiskie and that is a great first two rounds…

Yay!
I had originally hoped for a 4th rd comp pick months ago, but set my expectations for a 5th which the numbers seemed to support.
But thankfully it is a 4th rounder, that’s fantastic.
An internet high-five to Jake Scott. Drafted by the Colts in the 5th round, started 65 games including playoffs in his 4 years as an okay-to-good player, and then in leaving them they get a 4th round comp pick.
Or maybe I should thank his agent, whatever.

okay-to-good starter ?!
com’n man, give jake some love. i honestly feel he was horrifically snubbed from the probowl last year.
He was more of an good-to-great starter for us IMO, terrific at pulling, quick and nimble, perfect fit for our scheme. and he was a key cog in one of the (yeah yeah, i know they had a tendency of collapsing in the biggest of playoff games, but someone had to protect manning when he broke all those regular season records) best o-line units in league history, between 2004 and 2006, together with Jeff, Tarik, Ryan and Ryan.

Scott was the worst of the starting five
When it came to both pass-blocking and run-blocking. He was easily the most finesse which led to him being manhandled on a constant basis, giving up the most sacks and if not first than second in most penalties amongst the OL group in 2007.
The best thing going for him was that he never missed a game after his rookie year, and that he could play RT in a pinch.

well, i find the whole sacks part of it hard to believe, pass blocking is more about playing well as a unit anyway, and they have done just that, played well as a unit. i don’t recall him being manhandled one-on-one on that many occasions but i guess manhandling is a subjective term.
i also don’t get the toughness accusation, other than jeff, they weren’t a very tough group of guys, they were all finesse, so what, i don’t think you should put that against him. he was a good Denver-esque zone-blocking guard, which by extension helped our passing game and especially our play-action game. I’d take him in a heartbeat over any of the rookies/converted DT’s/ Charlie johnsons we started this year, i’d take him over a 4th round pick. hell, i’d even take him over a pre-injury lilja. there’s a reason he got a bigger contract from the titans, and we had to settle for the cheaper one. Im not saying he’s the reincarnation of john hanna of steve hutchinson, im just saying, especially looking back at the past season, that jake has earned some love.

Scott and Lilja
Are the biggest reasons why they won the SB in 06 in my opinion. They dominated the playoff games and especially the SB win. Hopefully Lilja comes back strong this year and we don’t regret letting Jake go.

98-Steve McKinney
99-Paul Miranda
00-Josh Williams
01-Ryan Diem
02-David Thornton
03-Steve Sciullo
04-Kendyll Pope, Jason David
05-Dylan Gandy, Matt Giordano
06-none
07-Clint Session, Brannon Condren
08-Jacob Tamme
That’s a pretty good set. You’ve got starters with David, Thornton, McKinney and Session and contributors in Gandy, Giordano and Sciullo. I consider the fifth his best round though along with the first.

I think Tamme could end up being a good pickup as well, but time will tell

hmmm
I cant say im overjoyed that we only got one pick and on top of that, I felt we should have gotten a third for scott. Ill take it though. A fourth rounder isn;t that bad.

Your disappointment is because you have no understanding whatsoever of the system
There’s zero chance either of those two things you mentioned (more than one comp pick and/or a 3rd round comp pick for Scott) could have happened.
