Peria Jerry, DT, Mississippi
| 19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers | ||
|
Drafter: Metal Militia Reasons for drafting: "Since their inception into the NFL in the late 1970’s, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the laughing stock of the entire league. It was not until the 1995 NFL Draft, where they selected a defensive tackle (Warren Sapp), who later became the linchpin of one of the greatest defenses of all time. This helped the Buccaneers move themselves up the ranks to an elite status. This year the Bucs will try to do the same thing by going back to the roots that made them successful by drafting Peria Jerry. Though he may not have the Ideal size for a Jim Bates DT, he has all the tools an elite DT is required to have in the NFL. His ability to quickly penetrate into the backfield will not only help bolster the Bucs poor run D from last year, but also provide a pass rush complement to the up and coming Gaines Adams." |
