With the 25th Pick in the 2009 Stampede Blue Community Mock Draft, Miami selects...

Sbmockdraftlogo_medium

Percy Harvin, WR, Florida

25. Miami Dolphins
NFL TEAM

Drafter: King Richard

Reasons for drafting: "Do I maybe take a gamble on a pass rusher or corner that may not be legit first round talent? Or do I go with the overall BPA. I think it's quite obvious what I opted for. I couldn't think of a single reason why I shouldn't draft Harvin. Ronnie Brown isn't going to bust out 60+ yard runs for touchdowns (unless he plays the Pats every week). Ted Ginn isn't going to catch bombs from Pennington in stride to burn defenses. But this Percy fellow on the other hand, he possesses that homerun ability. He'd carve through AFC East teams like a hawt knife through buttah. With the addition of Harvin, the Dolphins would have a good running back tandem, two legit outside receiving threats, and a deadly slot receiver. Sounds like a pretty sick offense. Besides, someone had to draft him, right? RIGHT?!"

Thanks man

Seriously. Made my second pick easier. Was really thinking about taking him. I think he’s the closest thing to being able to do what Westbrook gives that offense.

BBS needs to stop holding this up. We’d be through the second round by now. Chop chop.

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

BBS left the first part of my comment out, but I originally picked Darius Butler. Aerostar came in a little late with his pick and BBS asked me if I would switch and I did. So Harvin wasn’t my first pick, but I like it nonetheless.

This line will remain in my signature until the Colts draft Rashad Jennings in 2009.

Also, I didn’t draft him because of the Wildcat offense they used last year. I drafted him because they are going to need a playmaker since that formation is dead now. There would be no reason to run that with Harvin on the team.

That formation is not "dead"

The Dolphins are drafting player specific for that formation.

If they do use that formation it will be sparingly. It’d be stupid to draft Harvin just so you could run the Wildcat.

it wouldn't be just so they could run the wildcat

it’d be like Indy’s 3WR+Clark formations of the last two years. It’s not the base, but they roll it out sometimes and do work

or at least it’d be like the splitback set they had with Addai and Dom. Not something they run every game, but in certain situations they liked to go to it.

just a matter of degrees

sparingly vs a regular feature of the O, but not the base

It's now been over 5 hours since it was posted

And not one joke about Harvin and Sticky Ricky possibly being on the same team?

We need to work on that.
