Um…I think you need to revise it again. You didn’t even have anyone drafting Vontae Davis first off. Secondly, D.J. Moore is not a first round prospect, Alphonso Smith is on the fence. But how could you draft both of those guys before Darius Butler?

Also, what’s up with McCoy going in the first, and Donald Brown dropping to the 36th? Your mock is nuts man.

Btw, I like the Chargers first round pick, heh.

This line will remain in my signature until the Colts draft Rashad Jennings in 2009.
Oh and I write words and stuff for Stampede Blue.

If I forgot Davis there's a double in there somewhere

I had it done, then accidentally deleted the 1st round while moving the 2nd to after the jump.

For most of the year McCoy has been rated higher than Donald Brown. I think it was right then.

ok got it

I think I lost Vontae when I re-did the second and brought Freeman into the first round.

I don't man, I spent a some time looking over both guys for the Cards pick.

I thought that I have found more sites that had Brown rated higher then McCoy, but, as I keep looking it starts to even out.
Sites that have Brown over McCoy

Sites with McCoy rated higher:

http://cfn.scout.com/2/840193.html
http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?Prospect_ID=1878

this dumbass didn’t have Brown on there at all.
http://cfn.scout.com/2/750964.html

Walter’s site is the site I probably use the most, or at the very least a starting point to get more info. He seems to keep his site up to date better then most.
I personally like Brown a little more, he’s a multidimensional back, great athletism, and good character. One other thing that swaye me toward Brown>McCoy is the combine. Brown finished in the combine as a top 5 finisher in every event except the 3 cone drill and the Benchpress. His 40 time was 5th fastest at 4.51. His 41.5" vert. was 1.5" higher then 2nd place. He had the fasted time in the 60yrd shuttle and 2nd fastest time in the short shuttle.
Hell I think he’d fit in fine as a Colt, I’d have no problem if BP picked him up

Defense if more important then breathing.

and I never disagreed with the pick

that whole shitstorm was over the Cromartie sucks reasoning. Jenkins can be the FS, which they need.

Man, talk about your dream drafts. Jerry and Robiskie? Be still my heart.

by slash196 on Apr 18, 2009 4:20 PM EDT reply actions

Do you really really think Robiskie will fall to the Colts in the 2nd Round?

I’ve have heard talks that hey could land late in the first round, if not early second. After hearing that and watching him as a guest on the NFL Network, I wouldn’t be suprised if the Colts selected him with their first pick. Comes from a football family (his dasd is the receiving coach for the Atlanta?), great route running, and has that size the Colts could use.

I really really hope

I think it’s not any less likely than Jerry falling to Indy.

typo with the really really part

I would be more suprised if the Colts got him in the 2nd than in the 1st round just because I don’t think he will last that long. I don’t know what to think of Jerry though or where he’ll go in the first. There’s no question about his talent, but his age and “injury history” could scare some teams thus dropping him more towards the late first round. I wouldn’t be at all suprised if that happened. But if Robiskie does drop to the Colts in the 2nd and I hope thats the case, that would be a complete steal then.

Swap out Buffalo’s picks for Andre Smith (11), Robert Ayers (28) and Andy Levitre (42) and you’re doing better from Buffalo’s end. :)

shake-

I would like to know since polian has been with the colts, how many times have they drafted an underclassmen compared to a senior in the first round. I know dallas clark was the first hawkeye to declare early for the draft, which is kind of unbelievable to me. since then shonn greene has and I believe one more player did. but back to my point of drafting underclassmen vs. players who graduated and got that extra year of maturity in. do you think it makes a difference. as far as dallas clark. IMO no it didnt make a difference. he was a great pick and usual to wr and te’s picked it takes a couple. dallas it took one to adjust and he was off. peyton manning. I know people will not agree with me but I think it made a world of difference peyton staying 4 years thus being able to accept being thrown into a team with nothing and I think that had alot to do with this team turning its fortunes around very fast. marvin harrison. was he a senior when he was drafted?

Id love to see the colt first round picks of what year they were when they were picked in the first round. thank you

1999-2008 (couldn't get a list for 1998)

1st rounders: Edge, Clark, Gonzo

others: Rodregis Brooks (7th round), Idrees Bashir (2nd round)

that’s not a lot, but there are usually only 25-35 underclassmen in the draft out of 256.

roughly 1 in 12 players drafted are underclassmen. Indy took 5 out of 81 picks, but 3 out of 8 first rounders.

thanks for the quick response

and all 3 first round picks of underclassmen were successful (Im saying gonzo is a successful pick even though its still early) and funny its two recievers and a rb….the very thing of the focus.

just trying to see if drafting underclassman in the first round is a big risk or myth. mainly the recievers and running backs in this years draft

by kinnickcolt on Apr 20, 2009 10:15 AM EDT reply actions

I don't remember any research on age/class with NFL players

I know in the MLB draft, college players were way better bets at the time moneyball was being written (mostly because those players had a larger sample size and more even competition for their performance).

and I remember a pretty persuasive piece on the NBA draft showing that older players are less likely to be successful (probably because the basis of their success is already physically developed, rather than the younger successes who are doing it on talent, and will improve as they develop).

also I think it would be very interesting to see the kings of evaluating…polian, pioli, belicheat, the steelers also are among great drafters, drafting and not the likes of jax and detroit, the pawns of evaluating talent and drafting ……disecting the drafting of underclassman as opposed to drafting the graduated in the first round.
