Yet this weekend could be Polian’s biggest challenge.

With the Colts undergoing major changes and no certainty about where the NFL’s salary cap is headed, Polian knows he cannot afford a costly mistake— anytime, but especially this year.

"If you miss on some high draft choices and you miss on the players of your own that you decide to pay once they’re here, then you can’t succeed," Polian said in February."

Yahoo's Michael Marot talks Bill Polian, the NFL Draft, and an uncertain future for the NFL's salary cap.

this seems a little redundant

I don’t see this quote as applying to this year’s Colts anymore than it does to any other team, any other year. Perhaps we have some more changes than typical but that doesn’t change the fact that it is ALWAYS costly to miss on high picks. Which is why it is awesome to have BP doing the job.

"If you don't [draft me], I promise you I'll come back and kick your ass for the next 15 years."

I had the same reaction

reminded me of a comment like, “if you’re going to win the game, you have to score more points than your opponent”…. motherhood and apple pie if you ask me
