They stated that they need 2 back to be “the Guy”, and that that is a league wide thing. If we can have a rushing attack like the Panthers did, or the Giants, I’m pretty happy. Oh, and all three of our guys can run, catch, and block.

But we still need OL and LB (and another DT for that matter) a LOT more than a WR. I hope we get our guy in a few picks.

I think MRW is right

Sadly. They’ll hold onto Addai until his contract is up, offer him 3 or 4 million for 3 seasons or so, and when Brown’s contract runs out, they’ll probably let Addai walk. But I think Addai’s still around until Brown’s contract runs out if he doesn’t want a huge salary.

I really feel that guys like Duke Robinson (OG) and Alex Mack (OC) are far and away better players. These are two of the best interior linemen to declare for the draft in a loooong time. They fullfill a need in Oline for us and they are extremely talented. Therefore Robinson and Mack would be better picks than Nicks or Britt.

Mack and Duke are two of the best interior linemen in several years to declare for the draft. Duke almost declared as a Junior last year as a GUARD! You are out of your mind to take Nicks over those guys.

We don't have a fifth round pick

Used it to trade up for Fili Moala

What a great pick

A huge run stuffer is what we needed. As long as we can get him into a rotation he can be phenomenal. We could have found 3 starters, our slot receiver and a nickelback in our first five picks. Beast.

Just want a LB now

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

Dang

Steal of a pick. Might not fit their system though.

our head coach used to coach at iowa…come on. mitch king is a monster with a motor and he wont accept losing or players on the field that arent giving it their all…dang it caldwell

that all makes sense

which makes me think they were really intent on getting bigger up the middle

by CooperManningsNotTrying on Apr 26, 2009 2:14 PM EDT up reply actions

so I'm a little worried about the scouting report on collie

that says he has trouble separating. isn’t that the major worry with college WRs going to the pros?

by CooperManningsNotTrying on Apr 26, 2009 2:12 PM EDT reply actions

it's why he's probably just a slot guy

nickelbacks usually aren’t great players

Not true

A lot of times teams put their best CB in the slot like the Colts do with Marlin Jackson, but if a team suffers even 1-2 injuries at CB… well yeah you can get some scrubs covering the slot.

by MasterRWayne on Apr 26, 2009 2:17 PM EDT up reply actions

Marlin is unusual though

because he’s a bit slow but a great tackler.

Unless they are facing a Welker most teams keep their top CBs on the outside.

But sometimes and some teams they don’t which is why I said “usually.”

I got Summer hatin' on me cuz I'm hotter than the sun. Spring hatin' on me cuz I ain't never sprung

hate this pick by denver

thats crap that its the 5th round and nobody has taken mitch king. somebody is going to get a freaking stolen jewel of a player

by kinnickcolt on Apr 26, 2009 2:19 PM EDT reply actions

Maybe...

King might be a Darnell Dockett type of DT that falls. Arizons was so lucky to get that guy.

by MasterRWayne on Apr 26, 2009 2:20 PM EDT up reply actions

Bamock’s exactly right when he says he could be there in the 7th or UDFA. He’s too small to be a DT anywhere but here, and he’s too slow and short to be a DE in a 3-4 or 4-3.

We seriously could come out of this with Moala, Taylor, King. That’d be a hell of a draft.

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

by monstersbox on Apr 26, 2009 2:24 PM EDT up reply actions

that would be a stacked DT rotation

NT: Taylor, Johnson
NT/UT: Moala
UT: Foster, King, Dawson

I got Summer hatin' on me cuz I'm hotter than the sun. Spring hatin' on me cuz I ain't never sprung
Winter hatin' on me cuz I'm colder than Y'all. And I will never, I will never, I will never Fall.

Hell yeah

Our defense could finally reach it’s full potential. I’ll tell you what, Freeney and Mathis have a strong chance to make the pro bowl next season, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they both set career marks in sacks.

Chappell on Collie...
Collie might not have the name recognition of several players at his position, but he has the stats. At BYU in 2008, he had 105 receptions, 1,538 yards and 18 TDs. The yardage led the nation. He should be a nice fit for QB Peyton Manning, and has the versatility to line up either out wide or in the slot. In 37 games at BYU, Collie set school records with 215 receptions, 3,255 yards and 30 TDs. Somewhere, Manning is smiling.

Now a proud annoyance on Stampede Blue, 18to88, Indy Football Report, and Phil B's blog.

Man, I need a life...

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: Every time the Colts have played the KC Chiefs in the playoffs, they have gone on to at least the AFC Championship game.

it's too bad the nfl network brass can't negotiate a deal with the cable carriers

because the nfl network content people have done a pretty good job. eisen was a helluva get, and mayock and jamie dukes are suprisingly good. and though charles taylor sometimes annoys the hell out of me, he’s likable.

This is the biggest

Our interior has been since…well I don’t remember it being bigger. We just went up 50 lbs on average pretty much on our DTs with two dudes that are considered great run stuffers. Our defense could be CRAZY good next year.

I tip my hat to Caldwell. I don’t think I could’ve asked for a better draft so far.

No doubt

But for some reason I don’t see this draft happening with Tony. That’s not a knock on Tony, but for some reason I think Caldwell might’ve pushed his thoughts pretty hard.

Well

Not really Caldwell, but Coyer. And Caldwell hiring Coyer was a great move. So I guess what I’m saying is props to Caldwell for hiring Coyer so Coyer could push his thoughts on how he thinks the D-line should be.

Too many Rashad’s in this draft.

Jets getting Shonn Greene was a good pick, but Sanchez was terrible. Just terrible.

by MasterRWayne on Apr 26, 2009 2:43 PM EDT reply actions

Sanchez is the kind of player

that needs a veteran qb to learn how to play and behave in the nfl, specially after his lone year as a starter. He will have a very tough year, the kind of year that creates draft busts

yeah with Greene they can tell Jones to shove it

they have a viable thunder/lighting so Thomas has to step into line or hold out and hope they’ll cut or trade him.

jones has had one good year

and it was behind a very talented and expensive offensive line. in chicago he was sharing carries with ced benson, and after what he did in cincinnati at the end of last year, I’m starting to think Jones wasn’t exactly carrying the team. actually, both of the Jones brothers kind of piss me off.
