With the 14th Pick in the 2009 Stampede Blue Community Mock Draft, New Orleans selects...

Sbmockdraftlogo_medium

Clay Matthews, OLB, USC

14. New Orleans Saints

Drafter: ColtsFanFromKY

Reasons for drafting: "The Saints have many needs on defense, and very few draft picks. I believe they will trade down. However, they really need to upgrade OLB. The New Orleans Saints select Clay Matthews with their first round pick. With Malcolm Jenkins selected already, Matthews or Vontae Davis become the most likely choice. Some could Say Wells or Moreno, but the Saints are happy with Thomas and Bush."

Matthews

I had to put Matthews is overrated because I don’t think he’s a top 15 pick or a better prospect than Cushing. I just don’t see passing on Cushing to go for Matthews happening. Even if Matthews is faster, Cushing is better on game film.

Jim Sorgi runs a 4.6 40. That's all I've got to say about that.

Well I think Matthews is rising fast and has a ton of potential. He started as a walk-on and is now being considered a 1st round pick. He works really hard, and played very well considering how much experience he had as a starter. I contemplated between the two because I think its a toss up, but it seemed like most Saints fans believe he is the more likely pick between the two.
