Colts fans get their yearly "Who's hurt now?" notice: Adam Vinatieri has hip surgery

PrintLast year around this time, we were greeted with the news that Peyton Manning needed knee surgery. The surgery, and the recovery time after wards, hurt Indy's chances to win games early in the 2008 season. The Colts started 4-4. When Manning got better, they finished 8-0.
This year, it seems the surprise injury of the off-season award goes to Adam Vinatieri.
Adam had hip surgery today, performed by the same guy who worked on noted baseball cheater Alex Roidriguez. It took A-Fraud two months to recover from his surgery. So, there is hope Vinatieri will be OK in time for training camp.
The Colts released a two paragraph statement on Vinatieir's condition. It's been a nagging problem. Just like past situations with the Colts in regards to injuries, I trust nothing that comes out of West 56th Street. Nothing. If they say he will be available for the start of the season, I will remain skeptical. Rookie Pat McAfee is the only other kicker on the roster, but he was drafted primarily to punt.

A-Rod had steroids to help him come back quicker, I assume Viniateri won’t. So maybe it’ll take longer

Funny.
I was reading the story and comments from Peyton’s surgery last year…I think that put things into perspective for me. I still remember that feeling. ugh.

My grudge with Vanderass..
Will last forever. I could forgive a miss in the reg. season, but the playoffs? Don’t talk to me about the playoffs. I might even be persuaded to forgive that, but I’ll NEVER forgive him for talking about Peyton the way he did.

I think it'll be ok
PUP Vinny until he’s good to go, Colts get an extra roster spot while he’s out, and McAfee can kick and punt in TC/Preseason.

Colts brought in at least 1 kicker for a tryout
Ex Cowboy Billy Cundiff was in for a tryout. The article talks more about him being a Venture Capitalist than a kicker, but at least it looks like they’ll be bringing somebody else in for the time being.
