Kuharsky with notes from minicamp
http://myespn.go.com/blogs/afcsouth/0-10-38/Colts-notes-from-minicamp-practice.html
Kuharsky has some nice observations from Saturday's minicamp. Some important points:
1. Receiver order seems very much in flux, but everyone seems to be high on Garcon. The chief storyline of training camp, no doubt.
2. Charlie Johnson, Lilja and Mike Pollak were not working in the main line rotation. For the three guys who ought to represent the top of our guard depth, that's not a particularly great sign.
3. Jerraud Powers apparently made a nice break on a ball, showing good reaction and instincts. Corner depth is a big concern, so to see this guy work his way into the lineup would be great.
As Kuharsky says, you can't read too much into what goes on at minicamp. But since it's June, and between the Ko-Be-A Finals and baseball (snore), we're all dying for September. Anybody at Franklin College today with some other observations?

I think this is also a good sign:
While special teams work went on at one point, quarterbacks worked alone. Peyton Manning lined up in the spot where he imagined a defender would be on a specific play and looked to offer detailed commentary/advice/coaching to Curtis Painter before he took a few drops envisioning the full 11 that could be opposite him.
It’s good to see Peyton embracing Painter and offering some advice (coaching), unlike Farve, who in a similar situation to Peyton, offered little or no support to Rodgers.

That's why I say that we can pick Peyton's eventual replacement beforehand.
Peyton wouldn’t care, he’d just help him be the best he can be. (insert sappy music)

Man, I need a life...
Random facts of the week from the empty void that is my mind: I'm going to be going to Missouri (where there is no Internet or computers) for 2 weeks starting Monday, so I've got 3 of these for you.
1. You may have noticed before, but I love Scrubs. A lot. No seriously, I'm addicted to it, and here's why with this thrown in.
2. When you put thermite and blocks of ice together, you get a big boom. Nobody really knows why.
3. The Colts' (Indy and Baltimore's) all-time franchise record is 438-428-8. So, the Colts' just recently (2007 season) broke .500. That really tells you how bad the Colts were before Peyton.

Pre-Season Painter
I hope Painter stays so we have a chance to see what he can do. Pre-Season games could be a lot more fun to watch than last year.

He'll definitely throw in preseason
But when the final 53 are announced I will be surprised to see him make the final cut. He’s got “scout team” written all over him.

Then again
What round was Tom Brady picked again? Could be Polian saw a gem and decided to draft completely against need to get a once-in-5-years player. Doubt it, but time will tell.

Even if Painter doesn't make the team
It was time well spent. Learning from Peyton Manning is as good as it gets.

Time well spent for whom?
For Painter sure! But then we wasted a draft pick.

Polian wasting a pick?
How often does that happen?
