Colts re-add kicker Shane Andrus as Vinatieri heals from hip surgery
Oh boy. Adam Vinatieri's status for training camp just got a whole lot more uncertain:
The move comes less than a week after veteran place-kicker Adam Vinatieri underwent surgery on his right hip. Although Vinatieri’s availability for training camp is uncertain, the team expects him to be ready for the start of the regular season.
Shane Andrus is a solid kicker who was in camp with the team in 2006 and 2007. So, it is not unusual to have him around in August. Still, signing him now while Vinatieri recovers from hip surgery suggests to me that we shall see very little of Adam V in training camp and pre-season.
Tip to colt44.

Has anyone found anything
that lets us know exactly what kind of hip surgery Adam V. had? Knowing the Colts though, probably not.

Not sure, but
I read somewhere, maybe IFR, that the surgery was to correct a problem that had been lingering for over a year. I didn’t follow him much in NE, but his leg looked as good as ever last year, so I don’t think it should be such a huge problem. Just ask the Vikings.

I think it was 65
but it didn’t have alot of hang time. Any kicker off the street can kick it that far on a line……….maybe not Mike Vanderjagt. You want hang time to give your coverage team time to get down feild. That returner could have been down to the 35 before the coverage caught up to him. Not a good kick off, I should not have posted that. MB

accualy that is pretty damn good
our former kicker Dave Rayner had a 5.14 second hang time, but he has one hell of a leg. To bad he is with the Cheifs.
