Luke Links: The Peyton Manning wrote "Womanizer" Edition (Peyton Manning skit at the ESPY Awards)

We are less than two weeks away from the start of training camp. For some teams (like the Bills and Eagles) camp starts in less than a week! Until camp starts for us, we can sit back an enjoy the wit, the humor... nay, the comic genius of one Peyton Manning. After the jump, see Peyton Manning admit to a national TV audience that he wrote Britney Spears' hit song Womanizer. And the big guy says it with a straight face.
Here are the links:
- Robert Mathis heads back to his Alma Mater,
TexasAlabama A&M (Editors note: BBS was really tired when he wrote this-- bbs). - John Oehser sounds just about flabbergasted that NFL Network's Rod Woodson picked the Colts not to make the playoffs. Like we wrote about over the weekend, NFL Network's studio analysts are pretty pathetic, and Rod Woodson (while a great NFL player) is a moron on TV.
- Nice article from Pro Football Weekly about how the Colts will platoon Bob Sanders and Melvin Bullitt at strong safety. This measure is designed to keep Bob as fresh as possible throughout the year.
- Texans QB Matt Schaub drilled someone with a golf ball, which resulted in the person going to the hospital.
- The schedule of all NFL training camps.
- Another gander at shake n bake's article regarding the upcoming NFL Anti-Trust case, in case you missed it.
- And finally, Peyton Manning's skit at the ESPY awards. Typical Peyton. Typical comedic hilarity (Tip to dismay_te for FanPosting this):

Um, Shoe....
Hate to seem like a jerk, but Mathis went to ALABAMA A&M, and it kind of says it in the article linked. Might want to give that an edit. We still love you man!
I also wish I had time and motivation to blog at Speed Blue Nation
Edited
Sorry. I was really tired when I wrote it. I apologize to all Bama A&M alum!

Peyton has a gift...
I wish I could find the entire SNL episode he hosted.

His delivery is so great
He’s got such an unrehearsed, raw delivery, it sets up so you don’t expect much, but then his timing and sense of beat is PERFECT.
Ditto
I would love to have it in its entirety. I can only find clips on YouTube.

Peyton is a genius.
This actually makes me love him more. Which I didn’t think was possible. Thanks for the link.
"You can't defend the perfect throw, what can I say?" Peyton quoting Marino
ESPN is re-airing the espys tonight.
I’m DVR-ing it so I can watch the skit on my big screen TV. I love Peyton in HD!

Peyton is awesome
"I saw a commercial on late night TV, it said,'Forget everything you know about slipcovers.' So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were."
-Mitch Hedberg
comedic genius is appropriate
that was really hilarious. That skit could have been an hour long and I would have still been laughing. It really is crazy how funny Peyton is. For a guy who is so unbelievably committed to football and improving himself, you would think he has no personality. There is really no other athlete out there that can pull this sort of thing off as well as he does. Really impressive.
+1 Peyton, + 1
"If you don't [draft me], I promise you I'll come back and kick your ass for the next 15 years."
LOL 'P'
Peyton Manning is so funny.
"People don't realize that I'm just like them. I got feelings just like them. I go through hell in my life, just like them." Allen Iverson
That was brilliant
Someone did a great job with that entire piece. The writing was great, editing was fabulous and Peyton came through in the clutch like usual.
The guy has become an icon not just with his football play but because he gives back to his communities, picks and chooses his exposure and as far as I know just one set of flubs out of I don’t know how many tv spots – the stupid Oreo contest with Eli and the Williams sisters. Otherwise from his Mastercard commercials to the laser rocket arm to SNL and the ESPYs, he has been awesome.
