KC Joyner's new victim: Joe Addai
Just when we thought it was a personal KC Joyner vs Peyton Manning thing, this guy takes a shot on a second Colts player in one week...Here's what he said:
http://fifthdown.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/07/23/a-closer-look-at-addais-productivity/
In other words, it wasn’t Addai’s lack of productivity on busted plays that hindered him — he couldn’t get the ball up the field enough on plays he should have been able to. Some of that is probably attributable to a knee that required off-season surgery, but since the Colts were concerned enough to draft Donald Brown in the first round, I would consider Addai a risky fantasy prop at either the No. 1 or No. 2 running back slots on a roster.
What do you think? Does he hate the Colts? Is he actually true?

Ummm KC
I think the fact that 2/3rds of the run plays had blocking you marked as “inadequate” had a lot to do with Addai’s lack of productivity.
On the well blocked plays Addai got 4.5 a carry. That’s good, and about as much as you can expect from a back you isn’t a home run threat.
That's big talk for a little guy,
but I'm walkin' without reply.

I can’t seem to write a comment without a typo these lack few days.

I'm now wondering to myself whether that last typo (lack instead of last)
was a funny accident or you trying to be funny with a purposeful typo. Help me out here Shake.
Now a proud annoyance on Stampede Blue, 18to88, Indy Football Report, and Phil B's blog.
Man, I need a life...
Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: This would probably happen to me if I ever won anything.
unintentional
I need to slow down to think at the same speed I’m typing.
Also I put 2/3rds instead of 1/3rd in the first comment.

The Manning bashing article was ridiculous
This one isn’t too bad. Interesting analysis in comparison to Rhodes at least.
Of course
The article is okay, but I question how anyone considers a play to have “good blocking.” There’s a lot of variables there and I think its too subjective. Take it with a big grain of salt.
Since this seems to be about Fantasy Football,
I don’t think it really matters.
"You can't defend the perfect throw, what can I say?" Peyton quoting Marino
I suggest somebody document
all these dumb ass “prognostications” so we can all rub their faces in it after the season. What a dickslap. 2 for 2.
His article on Manning was retarted, but most articles on him are these days. I mean, how the hell can you hate him now? he’s injured too much? He gets accused of rape? He ruins life of a man who picked some things out of the trash? Does he run his mouth? Or is it that his football IQ is too high? He should just be stupid and rely entirely on physical skill like Vince Young and Michael Vick, shouldn’t he? Or is it that he hasn’t won a big enough game? Like… a 21-3 comeback victory in the AFC game, or a superbowl, or maybe a 17 point comeback in four minutes. Maybe he needs to beat the chargers on a last minute, miracle drive that results in a game winning field goal? Or win three MVPs? I’m sure if he does all of that stuff, he can be considered the best in the NFL.
BUT….
I can’t aruge much with him. I’m a colts fan, but look at the big picture. In his first two years, Addai averaged 70 yards a game. Marshawn Lynch averaged 77 yards a game. Lets say Lynch (who is missing three games at the beginning of the season) misses one game with an injury. He plays 12 games, and now lets say he averages 3.8 YPC and gets 650 yards. Are you going to rush to his defense in the offseason like this? I understand you’re all colts’ fans, but dissing this guy over an article he wrote about a back who is clearly underperforming… that may be too much. Lets wait another few years before we say ANYTHING about this guy’s career.

You can't be more right...
but the guy’s mainly talking about Fantasy value, we are the ones who bring the career talk… In a fantasy perspective he’s a risk, but I’d say it’s not that bad to have him because he’s a starter, he has a role in the receiving game and also his team is focused on improving on the run. I’d rather have him than Marshawn Lynch, Jamal Lewis, etc.
GO COLTS! =D
To be fair
I’m not going anywhere near Addai or Brown in fantasy drafts this season.
I think one of them will put up reasonable numbers, but until I see how the O-line is filling out and who’s getting touches and in what situations, I’m sticking with more established backs.

I find nothing wrong with that highlighted quote
Addai is still learning, has injury issues, and (aside from the play before the half against NE in 07) he doesn’t have much big play potential.
No one confuses Addai for a Football Wizard, and he’s never going to blow anyone away with his intelligence. He’s just a pretty good overall RB that can run decently well, catch the ball with above average skill and pass block well.
"I'm looking for Ray Finkle....and a clean pair of shorts."
I love Addai, but we'll see.
I think Addai will have a great year and average over 4 yards per carry. However, we now have (thanks Polian) one of the best running back corps in the league (though many untested). So Addai at #1 will have a great year. But the depth chart is looking like it will be very deep. 1st Round Brown, 2nd Round Hart (only ran twice last year before he got hurt), not to mention Simpson and Ball, who are better than expected. Polian gave us 2 young first (Addai and Brown) rounders, a high second rounder (but our first pick last year, Hart), and two other good backs. So I expect our run game to get back to 1,300+ (I am hoping for 1,700 like the early ’00s) yards per season.
However, back to the article. He is right. Addai will have the most carries on our squad but we are so deep at RB that he won’t see as many as an A-List Fantasy RB (Peterson, Forte, Jones-Drew, etc).
Lucas Berridge
What are you talking about?
I agree with the Addai and Brown system, but we took Hart in the 6th or 7th round buddy……2nd round we took the C, and we took 2 TE’s and 3 O linemen, not to mention Marcus Howard and Curtis Johnson…..Hart came late in the draft.
