CHFF has Oficially Lost Their MINDS!!!
Cold Hard Football Facts recently published an article ranking the Top 8 Quarterbacks in the NFL...
http://www.coldhardfootballfacts.com/Article.php?Page=2755
They ranked Peyton Manning 4rth. Placing Ben Roethlisberger at No. 2 and Kurt Warner at No. 3 in front of him. Huh???!!!! Ben Roethlisberger is the 2nd Best Quarterback in the National Football League??!! The guy who threw just two more touchdown passes than interceptions. The man that completed fewer than 60% of his passes is better than Peyton Manning a 3 Time MVP. a 9 Time Pro Bowler, and the active leader in every major passing category including most yards thrown in the Postseason!! Ben is good but if Peyton Manning had his defense than he would have 3 superbowls AT LEAST. And Kurt Warner is better then Peyton Manning? Let's get something straight here. I like Kurt Warner. He's a Top 5 Quarterback hands down. But if he's better than Peyton Manning then America's economy is better then it was in the Roaring 20s. The only Quarterback who can even be in the same conversation as being as good as Peyton Manning, he's No. 1 on CHFF's list AGAIN, still has to prove that he's the same player that he was after two surgeries to repair a torn ACL and MCL. It took Carson Palmer half a season to return close to his 2005 form and it took Donovan Mcnabb a year to begin playing like the player he is today. CHFF's reasoning for placing Peyton at No. 4 was that he was the reason for the Colts playoff exits the last two seasons. What???!! Did they actually watch these games or did they just read up about in Jason Whitlock's playoff commentary the next day? Peyton carved up San Diego's secondary in both games, 402 yards and 3 touchdowns; 310 yards and 1 touchdown, yet he is the reason they lost? Last time I checked, a quarterback throwing for over 300 yards was a GOOD THING. Never mind the fact that in the first playoff game the Colts defense couldn't pressure either Rivers or Billy FREAKING Volek and that last year the Colts started inside their own 20 on 7 of their 11 drives including 5 such times that they had to start inside their own 10. It's hard to move the ball inside your own 10 yard line even when you have a great offense, much less one that couldn't run the ball all game long. Plus Peyton Manning never had a chance to see the ball in overtime. Once again CHFF uses their blind contempt of the Colts to make up ridiculous accusations towards players, using games they know absolutely nothing about as evidence to support their claims. If they did watch our last rwo playoff games against San Diego, then they would know that Peyton Manning isn't to balme for these losses but the Defense and Mike Scifres are.

Dude,
CHFF lost it a long time ago. They are a bunch of Pat lovers. Not to mention they have been personally ball washing Tom Brady for ages.

Here is 18to88's take...
http://www.18to88.com/2009-archives/july/same-old-same-old.html
From the comments by Doug England:
“DZ, you slightly beat me to it with your response to Dave, but there is no doubt in my mind the CHFF do this just to mess with Colts fans. Or, I’ll say it as I’m sure you are too modest, to get a rise out of you.
Imagined conversation at CHFF:
CHFF Numbskull One: Are you crazy, we’ll destroy any credibility we have, if we print that Manning is only the third best QB playing today.
CHFF Numbskull Two: Yeah, but it will make DZ at 18to88 head explode.
CHFF Numbskull One: (laughing uncontrollably) Damn you’re right. I’m in. But let’s go one better, and only rank him fourth!

CHFF's plot
I could actually see that as a possibility and yes I know that they are mindless Patriot Fans but I still felt it was worth mentioning.

I don't believe they ever "had" it.
But this is definitely further proof that smoking crack is alive and well in New England.

And on NFL Network
Jamie Dukes’ list had Ben behind McNabb and Cutler. He wasn’t even in the top 6! The point is, sometimes people say things that you vehemently disagree with. If you get bent out of shape every time this happens, you’ll become a head case.

So true.
I voted no, because they never had it. Patriots homers over there.
It’s also laughable how CHFF strictly ranks Peyton down that far based on how well the team has played in the playoffs. Last I checked, football is a team sport. Peyton has been brilliant the last couple of seasons in the postseason, the defense has been garbage.

Most people on earth are stupid. This includes the CHFF writers. That list is so idiotic there’s no point in even getting upset about it. Just be glad that you’re on the opposite side of the argument, because if you ever found yourself agreeing with them, there’d probably be something wrong with you.

Just my personal, humble opinion
1. Manning (how can you argue with the reigning MVP??)
2. Brees (he’s put up ungodly numbers, just hasn’t had the D to back him up)
3. Brady (only reason he isn’t #2 is injury questions)
4. Palmer (it’s debatable, but he was, before his injury, a top 3 QB and he’s healthy again)
5. Eli (great young receiving core, solid running game, solid defense, he’s got the supporting cast EVERYWHERE)
by harbaughmyhero on Jul 28, 2009 3:36 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
What does supporting cast have to do with how good you are as a QB?
Eli had a great supporting cast last year til Plax shot himself, and he still barely completed 60% of his passes. And that was the first time he ever reached that level.
I think Eli is in for a regression in 2009, which is why I think the Giants would be foolish to give him a huge contract now when they could simply wait and see how this year goes first.
To put him above Rivers and Roethlisberger (nevermind Romo, Warner, and a good number of others who have consistently been more reliable) is being far, far too kind to Peyton’s little brother.

I agree
Eli has one great playoff run and one decent regular season. The rest has been rather unremarkable. If his name was Eli Smith and he played for Kansas City instead of New York, no one would put him close to the top 5 list. For the record, my list is:
1) Manning (I think you know which one)
2) Brady
3) Roethlisberger
4) Brees
5) Rivers

Good list.
I like it.
Now a proud annoyance on Stampede Blue, 18to88, Indy Football Report, and Phil B's blog.

Agreed.
And what’s this about Carson Palmer being healthy? The last I heard, management wanted him to have elbow surgery last season and he pretty much said “Nah, I’m cool,” and decided to hang out on the bench, collecting checks and taking up a roster spot they could have used for someone, I don’t know, who could have actually played!
And just because he says, “I’m totally 100% now,” doesn’t mean jack. What do you think he’s going to say? Put me on the PUP and start shopping for another QB? Hell no, he’s not!

well, don’t we always say “if peyton had the steeler’s defense he’d already have 3 superbowls!!”……isn’t that a supporting cast???

That still doesn't have anything to do...
With how good the QB is. Super Bowl rings reflect more so on the overall team than the individual player.

I saw an interview with Palmer where they asked him about his elbow and he said that he was “100% ready to go”, listen this is just my list, it’s what I think…..if you don’t like it that’s fine, it’s a “simple humble opinion” get it?

Take it easy....this is a forum discussion right?
it seems we at least agree on Brees, I think that Brees works with a little less talent at receiver, (compared to New England….and us) and puts up in-sane numbers. He should get a lot more credit than he really does……everyone has already put New England on a pedestal and Brady hasn’t played in an actual football game in nearly a year.

Pats fans
they don’t listen to the factual based reality of situations very well, and never have really…..most patriots fans STARTED being patriots fans when they won their first super bowl. The majoriy of them don’t remember how they got it served up to them by “Da Bears” in 1985, and Favre’s only SB win in 1996.

1) Manning – #1 until someone without Randy Moss breaks his records.
2) Brady – Gets by on his rings, none of which he was personally responsible for. Could drop to 3 or even 4 depending on how he recovers.
3) Brees – Would be #1 if he didn’t have Manning and Brady in front of him.
4) Roethlisberger – Perfect for Pittsburgh, lousy anywhere else. He’ll retire before Manning does if he keeps taking hits.
5) McNabb – On the downside of his career. Still better than almost anyone else.
6) Palmer – Immensely talented, but the Bengals are terrible.
After that you have guys that are either surrounded by incredible talent and underachieve (Romo, Rivers, Manning), are promising but not there yet (Flacco and Ryan), everyone else (everyone else), and the guys that will never amount to anything (Russell, Young).

Ummm
dude. seeing as your a colts fan I don’t want to diss you too much… but WHAT THE HELL? Brady would be number one if Brady and Manning weren’t ahead of him? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! OHMYGODTHAT’SSOSTUPID! You know Kyle Orton could be number one on this list if everyone wasn’t ahead of him. That and Manning isn’t number one because no one has broken his records without Randy Moss. Sure, Brady had a freakishly talented receiver when he tore it up, but so did Manning. Remember that Marvin Harrison guy? yeah, him. The reason Manning is number one is because he will own every record for a QB once retires and he hasn’t missed a start in his ENTIRE CAREER. And no way Palmer is better than Romo or Rivers. I hate them both and I like Carson, but look at the stats. Romo has freakishly good stats. INSANE stats.

ok
How about the fact that Romo and Rivers have two more full seasons in? Palmer has missed almost 2 years with injury…and he’s coming back healthy, I kind of think that’s the point….
As for Brady breaking Manning’s record 49……I’m sure if we had bad sportsmanship and left Manning in for every down of ever quarter of every game that year, throwing the ball when we were already ahead by 30…..hell he would have ended up with around 60 TD passes. We took him out at HALFTIME that year against Detroit because he already had 6 TD’s….more TD’s than incompletetions…. so as far as I’m concerned Brady’s record is garbage.
