Let's clear things up

Kravitz and Eddie are under no direct ESPN control. There is NO way they would have received a memo from ESPN. Chicago, Dallas, LA, Pittsburgh, and NY are the ONLY ESPN owned and operated affiliates. All of the other affiliates merely bid for the rights to be ESPN affiliates.

Having worked for 2 ESPN radio stations - 1 an affiliate and 1 an ESPN owned and operated station, I can guarantee, without a doubt, that no station in Indy was restricted on what they could say or report in regards to Roethlisberger or Marvin. ESPN needs to radically overhaul they way they do business - I think we can all agree on that. It's why we see so many other news organizations calling them out.

And sure, ESPN missed a HUGE one on Big Ben that will likely haunt them for a long time, but to think a story on Harrison shouldn't be reported is asinine.

Don't lose sight of the big picture here - both stories have value and should be reported. Marvin may be as innocent as a newborn, but it's still a story, and there sure is some damning evidence as to his involvement in SOME form - no matter how big or small. Only an irresponsible journalist with big Colts speed blue glasses on would refuse to acknowledge that.

Unfortunately, BBS, you have decide to make this a personal vendetta to prove Harrison is 100% innocent.  I'd say there is damning evidence to the contrary.  Doesn't mean he pulled the trigger or ordered a hit, but it most of the evidence would suggest Harrison has been involved in some, maybe even miniscule, but some way.  Really, you can't see that?

Sometimes heroes let you down - even if it's a VERY little bit.  LEt's tick to the great football analysis this site can do.

While we are clearing things up

1) Neither me, nor any of my co-writers, are advocating that the Dwight Dixon shooting, which happened over a year ago, should not have been reported. I have no idea where you got the idea that we think the story should have been buried.

2) I do not have some kind of “vendetta” to prove Harrison incident. Marvin Harrison IS innocent. By any legal interp you can think of, Marvin Harrison is an innocent of shooting Dwight Dixon as you and I are.

3) Um, of course Marvin Harrison was “involved,” but WTF does that mean? People walking down the street when it happened were “involved.”

4) THE WHOLE THING HAPPENED OVER A YEAR AGO, and people still cannot get through their head that Marvin Harrison did. not. shoot. anyone.

5) How the hell did Marvin Harrison “let us down?” He didn’t do anything. You are assuming that he did based on what? What evidence? Zero. None. Nada. You are assuming based on hearsay and speculation. There is no “damning evidence.” Just because you say it doesn’t make it real. You sound like the nutjobs who think Barak Obama’s birth certificate is fake. Kindly go back and re-read the fact, not the Mike Florio-ESPN pushed garbage that was debunked by both the police, the Philly media, and the Philly DA.

6) And finally, the Dwight Dixon incident is no longer a story. Who cares if Dixon and Nixon sue Marvin? Whoopie. A convicted liar and his buddy want money. Good luck with that. The point to the whole thing is if ESPN’s “No coverage unless there are charges” policy were legit, then they shouldn’t have written anything about Dwight Dixon. Since we all know their reasoning for not covering Roethlisberger allegedly raping a woman is total bullshit, it just proves that ESPN has no integrity.

Also, if Eddie and Kravitz didn’t get a memo, good for them. They still didn’t mention the story on air, and it was THE biggest sports story that day, and the next. The news broke on July 21st and they didn’t talk about until July 23rd.

Amen brutha!

Honestly, I don’t care that they did a story on Marvin. The guy has such a clean record he probably bleaches it. If there is story, they can report it. News is slow this time of year. What bothers me is that Big Ben didn’t get a story. that’s complete crap.

I don't feel like Marvin let us down.

For one thing he never professed to be a good boy off the field. He never professed anything. He NEVER talked about himself. The truth is, we know very little about Marvin’s off the field life. Consequently, we have no high expections. Not like with Peyton. So no, I don’t feel let down about the gun incident. The only time I ever felt like Marvin let us down, was on the field, and those times were few and far between.

Fairness in Reporting

It doesn’t matter to me that ESPN reported on the Harrison deal, it also doesn’t matter to me that ESPN reported on the Randy Moss deal last year either. But it bothers me that a very similar case was ignored time and again by ESPN when we all knew that it was still news or “entertainment” regardless of how you spin it. Very sketchy tactics.
