Colts cut seven players, including DT Pat Kuntz and S Brandon Condren

The Colts waived seven players yesterday, according to a league source who spoke with Scouts.com. Included in the cuts was Notre Dame rookie DT Pat Kuntz, a fan favorite for his personality and ties to the state of Indiana. Also cut were S Brannon Condren, QB Chris Crane, CB Brandon Foster, CB Brandon Harrison, G Cornelius Lewis, and LB Tyrell Sales.

This is the second time the Colts have cut Brandon Condren, and the oddity about cutting him now was the Colts.com website posted an article on Condren just two days ago. The article (written by John Oesher) states:

Safety Condren Anxious to Take Full Advantage of Second Chance with Colts
INDIANAPOLIS – Brannon Condren said he has learned from his past.

That, he said, means learning from his mistakes and he said he doesn't mind acknowledging a mistake or two from his first stint with the Colts. He said he could have worked a touch harder.

He could have been a bit more prepared.

Condren said it wasn't that he was unprepared last offseason, and it wasn't that he didn't work hard. But Condren said there were areas on which he could have improved.

This offseason, he said, he wants to make those improvements.

I guess Condren won't be getting that second chance after all.

Also, just FYI: The Colts have seven drafted rookies stil floating out there. These cuts were likely made to make room for those rookies, who hopefully will get signed soon.

Condren, Kuntz and Cornellius Lewis!?

That really surprises me! I would think Cornellius would have had a chance to prove himself and I thought Kuntz would have been on the P.S. Crazy!!

Condren shares my birthday and I’ve always pulled for him – plus he was a beast in Preseason last year. Sad day.

Sorry to see Pat Kuntz go...

But i gotta say I like Adrian Grady better as far as undrafted DT’s go. If only one of them was gonna make the team I’d prefer Grady.

I agree

Grady is someone I will really be keeping an eye on. I will be at training camp on August 7th so I will be sure to give you guys a write up on that.

Lewis?

I thought he was going to make the roster, and they cut him. That’s interesting to say the least.

"I saw a commercial on late night TV, it said,'Forget everything you know about slipcovers.' So I did. And it was a load off my mind. Then the commercial tried to sell me slipcovers, and I didn't know what the hell they were."

Grady has more upside than Kuntz

But I just thought Kuntz would catch on since he’s a hometown favorite and offers Special Teams ability.

Still shocked they would kick Lewis to the curb before Kyle DeVan and Tom Pestock (WHO!?!?!?).

oh, noooooooooooooooooooooooooo . . . .

Cornelius Lewis cut? There goes my sleeper pick to follow through camp. He must’ve lived up to his rep as being trouble. Oh well. Let’s see who else . . . . . . .
Ahhhh, yes. I think I’ll fixate on WR John Matthews from San Diego St., now that Lewis is history. And maybe a touch of Mike Talliili (sp?) MLB from Duke.
And I concur with GoHorse88 in that Grady has a good shot to make it in the DT rotation.
Just goes to show that one never knows until they lace ’em up!

Tauiliili

I spent hours trying to figure out how to say it and homer-ishly memorized the spelling as well.

I see him sticking around on the PS at least this year. He’s our future MLB in waiting :)

True dat

Needs to keep his nose clean – no better organization to be in. We have some good influences in that locker room!

Goddamnit, not again

Last preseason I was in love with Condren. He was making big tackles, delivering big hits, and making plays everywhere. Then he got cut in favor of some guy named Melvin Bullett, and I was incensced. I’m happy to eat my words about that, but Condren is a baller, and I have no clue why they like Jaimie Silva so much. I understand at third safety they’re looking for an STer, not a starter, but it just sucks to see someone who takes advantage of every opportunity he’s given and then he still gets the shaft. He was a draft pick too, I’m really not sure what’s going on with him.

I felt the same way last year...

I think Condren deserves a shot somewhere. He was money during Preseason and I thought was going to challange for the “Giordanno” spot until we re-signed him. Best of luck Brannon – the Colts organization kinda walked all over you, but you should be in this league.

Silva works harder than Condren. Also, he has dreadlocks, and their dirty nasty hippie smell messes with the opponents’ heads and slows them down.

its a buisness

Well i like brandon condren too, but the nfl is a buisness. People get cut. Its apart of the league. But he’s a good player that will get his oppertunity again and i think he’ll make the best of it
