Around SBN: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez Heats Up, Hughes Talks Retirement

Hall can be claimed by any team, if not he will be placed on the Colts IR for the season (receiving his full salary) or reach an injury settlement with the team, allowing him to sign elsewhere once healthy. The Colts also cut lineman Tom Pestock. To fill the spots they signed RB Walter Mendenhall and DE Rudolph Hardie (subject of a 2008 Who The Hell Will They Draft)

Marcus Howard, Curtis Johnson, and Rudolph Hardie

All 3 are on our team… Tell me that during the 2008 offseason and my pants would be tight.

I'm confused

I can kinda see why you would replace a WR with a RB, especially given how stacked the Colts are at WR.

But why oh why, given the current O-Line situation, would we replace an OG with a DE?!?!

How can you not love a team that does this?

Pestock

Supposedly had a really nasty streak and could open up lanes in college. That is a shame. From what we’re hearing from camp the O-line is NOT shining.

Polian just probably wanted to see what we could do with Hardie. Hopefully CuJo’s not too banged up, he has been out for a few days though.

Hall to IR - according to Colts.com

Still on the teams’ Roster page. Doesn’t look like the IT department was told to get rid of him completely.

if no one claims him he'll go on IR

or the Colts will make a injury settlement with him so they don’t have to pay him his whole 2009 salary and Hall doesn’t have to sit out the year.

Bummer for Hall

But I bet he would have gotten cut anyways after training camp, and if he is IRed then he will have another training camp to try and make the roster/suffer a freak injury.

I am surprised though

Hardie and Mendenhall? I think our defensive ends are already stacked enough, although Hardie was a dream of mine in 2008. It would be the equivalent of the Colts signing Mitch King in 2010 for those who weren’t around Stampede Blue before the 2008 draft.

Mendenhall? I thought Simpson was finally doing well. Pestock had no chance of making the roster, so that doesn’t surprise me. My guess is both Hardie and Mendenhall will get cut before the season starts. Anyone know if Hardie and Mendenhall will play tomorrow?

Hart's not playing tomorrow night

so maybe they want to keep either Simpson or Ball from getting too many carries and risking an injury. maybe this is an indication they’ll keep 4 backs on the roster. lord knows they don’t care about winning preseason games.

Hardie played a T-2 at Howard

and last year for the Lions. It’s not too much of a stretch that they could get him out there for some snaps, though I’d expect him to look kinda lost.

Still think I beat jumunjis with the tip....

But whatever…it’s cool. I’ll be like Bryan Fletcher. An unsung hero.

What can I say?

I was just on my game today! I’m sure 15 people would have posted it within 5 or 10 minutes of us anyway. Thanks for declaring me the victor shake!

I'm practicing

I think I’m going to ref intermural games for a job on campus this year. Gotta be ready for those bang-bang plays.

I'll probably do a variety of sports,

They have

flag football, volleyball, basketball, soccer, wrestling, kickball, wiffleball, and softball.

Everything but Volleyball and Wrestling I’m confident about being able to handle just fine. I’ll probably just do whatever isn’t on the weekends in the fall, and then whatever once football season is over.

It’s U of Iowa students playing.

Officiating games is one of the hardest things to do

Some of my friends used to ref intermural games, and they hated it. Both teams expect you to call things in their favor, and fans get pissed if you miss a call that you didn’t see or call something that they didn’t see…just like in the NFL! You’ll do fine; just don’t let those idiots get to you. :-)

Props to Jumunjis. And Robin Williams. It was a stellar movie.
