edge signs with seahawks
The Seahawks are adding running back Edgerrin James, according to a report from ProFootballTalk.com.
James is a free-agent running back who was cut by Arizona in the offseason. He is 31, and is coming off a year in which he rushed for a career-low 514 yards for the Cardinals. It was the first time since 2002 that he gained fewer than 1,000 yards in a season.
James played in 13 games and ended up sharing the backfield workload with Tim Hightower, a rookie.
James went to Arizona in 2006 as a free agent, the same season the Seahawks re-signed Shaun Alexander.
His addition indicates Seattle was not happy with the performance of its backfield, and it likely means a roster shake-up. T.J. Duckett started in place of the injured Julius Jones in Saturday's exhibition game against Denver and was not very effective

godspeed edge
here’s to edge dominating the nfc west and hopefully having a good run this year.
Awww crap
Good thing I just avoided drafting Julius Jones in my fantasy league. No idea how that backfield’s going to shakeout now.
Hope Edge does well though.
Good for Edge.
He deserved it for what he’s done for us in this league, and he’s always been a class act, even when we shipped him off to Arizona. I wish him all the best.
Now a proud annoyance on Stampede Blue, 18to88, Indy Football Report, and Phil B's blog.

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: Whenever I think of Tom Brady, my thoughts immediately turn to this.
umm, fantasy implications everyone?
Julius Jones seemed like a good sleeper pick if he was going to get most of the carries. Duckett was also an option as a TD machine. Overall the Seahawks offense looks like it could be much improved with a little health. So what do we do with James? (I have my second draft tomorrow night…)
"If you don't [draft me], I promise you I'll come back and kick your ass for the next 15 years."
I'm glad I had only had one of the leagues I'm in draft before this happened
FO had Julius Jones as a MASSIVE sleeper and I took him in my one league.

I am so psyched!
Party at my house! I get to see his swan-song three miles from home. Hope it lasts a few seasons and not just one. Now if I can just manage to get an old blue 32 jersey signed…. (and then prevent my son from wearing it any more)
That sound you hear is Sean Alexander’s teeth grinding down to little nubs.
So he will potentially have 6 games against the Cards, Rams, and 49ers DLs. I think he’s good for 750 yards this year. Not too sure of the Seattle OL except for Walter Jones. But Hasselback is a credible QB if he has receivers and the team is healthy, which should keep a D honest.
Go, Edge, go!
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.
Good for Edge
I think the Seahawk got a good one. You know he’s prepared. Kick their asses Edge, but stay the hell out of Indy.
Interesting
The Seahawks do play the Colts in Lucas Oil Stadium this year. Edge should receive a nice ovation from the crowd.
One thing I know for sure,
Edge is gonna HATE the weather there.

The hell he will
Their practice facility is indoors (mostly—if you can tell me how to post a photo of it I will, my kid practiced there last week) and it’s still in the 70s and sunny here. Sure we had a bit of November last week and tonight it slated to hit 52. But it’ll be 80 and sunny tomorrow.
And since it’s an el nino year and he probably does not snow ski much, the shitty skiing season won’t bother him. Yes, that means “warm” and 45 degrees with rain instead of 35 with flurries, but, um, ah hell, where was I going with this again? Who am I kidding? Even if you love the cold like I do, the months of winter darkness can be humbling.
Oh yeah, we had three records this summer—one all-time high (103), one a stretch of consecutive days over 85 (8?), and one stretch of days without rain (30). (Our strawberry plants exploded with fruit—Seattle, you come for the rain, but stay for the jam.) Bottom line, if Edge likes strawberries, man is he coming to the right place.
He can golf year-round here, not like in Indy. Not like Phoenix, either…. I know he likes boating and at one point owned a Bayliner (they are made locally) so, that might work for him. Boating goes on year-round here. Of course it’s a little chilly…..
Oh jeez, the Chamber of Commerce Welcoming Committee is gonna freakin’ lynch me.
I hate Joe Namath. That's how long I've been a Colts fan.
lol
My friend was just up there last week, said the weather was beautiful. I’ve never been, but from what I’ve seen Seattle looks like a great city. My only issue would be having gray skies the majority of the time. When I lived in Germany, it was gray alot and while I like the cooler weather, the lack of sun really got to me.

I actually....
like this signing more than I did with Arizona. He’ll be relied on more in the offense in Seattle, has a better O-Line than in Arizona, and honestly, should be able to regain his old form. Will he be the guy that ran for 1500 yards every year?
Probably not, but I think he has the ability to do it still. Remember, this was the guy who in 2005 ran for 1500 yards in like 14.5 games…..and he hasnt really played/taken beatings a whole lot since then. No major injuries, and no major health issues.
I’m happy for Edge. He played hardcore for the Colts, and despite a few fumbles (#$@#$) he was still a major reason why the Colts won the SB in 2006. Bottom line, I hope he does well, I even hope he plays well against us, in a losing effort of course :D
Really?
The Seattle O-line stinks, man. And they’re implementing the new blocking scheme and they don’t know who’s playing where. They’re like the Colts, only they’ve got a new scheme, new co-ordinator and they’re one of the worst pass blocking lines in the NFL.
OK, there’s nothing like the Colts.
Of course, if the zone scheme works Edge could find some nice spaces to run through, he’s still good at hitting a hole and getting 4 yards.

???
How, again, did Edge help us to win the Super Bowl in 2006 when he no longer played for the team? And sending us good vibes doesn’t count…lol

Oh yeah...
I forgot about that. Still, it may be a bit of a stretch to say that mentoring someone over the phone helped him to help us win a Super Bowl. If that’s the case, then we could also give his high school football coach credit for the win because he instilled in him a great work ethic or some other such valuable piece of football education.

I agree with them giving Edge a ring
but not because he was a big help in 2006, because he was a huge part of the 4 Superbowl contending Colts teams leading up to the 2006 Colts. You build a team to contend and hope that one year you get the luck needed to break through. Edge was a giant part of that and I think he deserved the honoring they gave him for that, even though he didn’t happen to be on the team that finally broke through.

Yep!
This is what I meant by him helping us…. he helped set the team up in years before with productive running and stretch plays, and the year after he left, what do we do? We go and win the SB.
In an odd comparison, Marshall Faulk leaves the Colts after two seasons of 3-13, he goes to the SB and wins a ring….and the Colts go 13-3 with the rookie Edge picking up a rushing title….
Bottom line is the guy put us in a position to win with his production and abilities that opposing teams still had to fear the running game..

Well said Shake...
Edge deserved it!! Not only with Addai, but with Rhodes as well. Edge is class all the way, and I hope he kicks ass this season!!

You are completely correct, Shake.
And on that note, I can’t wait for Edge to come to the Luke this season so that we can give him the welcome and appreciation that he deserves.
