Around SBN: Jeremy Lin's Game-Winner Was Incredible, Worth Remembering

Tomorrow is the first cut down day. Teams must cut five players from the 80 man roster by September 1st. For the Colts, my guess is they will cut John Matthews, Shane Andrus, Travis Key, Jamie Petrowski, and John Gill. Cutting Andrus would mean the Colts likely would bring Adam Vinatieri off PUP.

I'll buy your 53

Except I think Jennings makes the team, simply based on his experience. I agree, he hasn’t looked too good so far. The only other note is Hart – we don’t know if he’ll ever be healthy. I’m guessing PUP for him, keep Simpson.

Can't PUP Hart.

You are correct

A player must be on “Active PUP” (preseason) in order to be on “Reserve PUP” (regular season). So Hart either makes the team, the PS, IR, or is cut.

I still think Hart will make the roster

This is the team that kept Roy Hall on the roster for two years. I also have a feeling that TJ Rushing is going to be cut as well.

If Rushing is cut

I agree

People who get reps at unique positions are very unlikely to get cut. Like Foster in the Power I, if no one else has handled return duties then Rushing is probably OK…it’s also great to see him coming back from that injury.

Why would you keep Hart over Ball when Hart isn’t even healthy and hasn’t played at all this preseason? Ball keeps getting the shaft by a lot of people here. I think he’d be a great 3rd running back.

On a side note, if I was running the show I’d cut Sorgi and Keiaho and then sign Derrick Brooks.
