Iron Man...
Now currently Brett Favre has 269 consecutive starts as a QB and it is likely he will continue to add to that total this year. Peyton is at 176 and obviously will be adding to that total also. Now I'm not sure if this has been asked on here or not, but I'm wondering if you Colts fans think that Peyton will surpass Brett Favre in the "Iron Man" streak. I believe that Peyton will have to continue to start until at least 2013 in order to pass Favre, but that could be wrong judging by the fact he decided to come back this year. So can it be done?
Peyton can take these bears but can he take....

Peyton can do it.
I don’t think Favre will last the whole season. If not, Peyton can most certainly do it. If Favre does last the entire season, I’m not so sure. Peyton will know when its time to retire, unlike someone else.

Favre's arm was his best attribute
Peyton’s is his mind. Even when he’s got a Sorgi hose he’ll still be a great QB.

Favre never retired
How can you retire and still keep your consecutive starts record going? You can’t.
The only things Favre ever retired from is preseason work and giving a crap about his team.
I hope someone shatters his record, and it might as well be PM.

What really killed me about last night,
Jaws, Gruden and Mike T. didn’t have the onions to stop drooling over Favre after the play. By the end of the game they pretty much annointed him the saviour of the Vikings. But, OH YEAH, they said the same thing last year and how did that work out?

Exactly.
I mean, I knew going in that they would be drooling over him. I was okay with that for a while because, you know, at least he was actually playing.
But I have to tell you, I hit mute during the 3rd quarter…I couldn’t take it any more.
And I have a feeling that Adrian Peterson would have something to say to them about Favre’s saviour-ness.
The only thing Favre did last night was not be Favre. Screens, hand-offs, check downs…just give him time, he’ll get over listening to Childress soon and he’ll be back to his old interception throwing, gunslinging ways.

After the game he backed off his comments.

Situation isnt all is fault until this year
I have to say that Farve didnt handle everything a 100% correct. However the Packers created the situation last year, and this year you cant blame him for making sure he was healed. Farve is the second best QB of the generation behind Manning in my eyes. Everyone always points to his interceptions, however you can probally erase 6-10 each year. He is one of the few QB’s who is wiling to throw the ball up at the end of the half or the game and see what happens, those plays dont hurt his team only his personal stats. If you have watched the Packers play over the years which I did then you would know that a large amount of his picks are a result of him throwing it up at the end of games and halves. What makes Manning better is he has the hart that Farve has but is more intelligent than any other QB in the game.
by shelbyjames on Sep 2, 2009 8:18 AM EDT reply actions 0 recs
Bullsh*t the Packers created the situation last year.
Favre went on national television and officially retired. So, the Packers went on with their game plan of Rodgers, rightfully so. Then a few months later Favre changes his mind and goes on national television again whining how the Packers don’t want him back. Why should they stick Aaron back on the bench for him? I fail to understand how what BF did last year was anyone’s fault besides his own.

Exactly.
And he’d been playing with them for two years before that! The Favre stuff was already getting old befroe he “retired” that year. What is the team supposed to do? They did the right thing, obviously. Rodgers is better than Favre right now. Imagine if they’d kept Favre and his antics (he was already mad at his team for not getting Randy Moss). The Packers would’ve lost Favre and Rodgers (at the end of his contract and getting yanked around). Thankfully, they have Rodgers moving forward.
Favre was wrong in his antics for three years with that team, but that last time was utterly ridicules. Good for the Packers.

Read above as Indy Lori said
Also look at the games through the first ten and look at how many farve won for them, he made throws no one else they ahd on the roster could have heck only a few QB’s in the NFL could make them. The offense is what won the games for that team the game against arizona the defense did great didnt they they won that game! You QB opens up the run game when a team has to worry about him, this would be true for the colts if we picked up the right assignments. Before Farve got injured name a game the defense won beside maybe against the titans but that had just as much to do with the O as the D otherwise the offense won the games why dont you watch some football instead of pretending.

The last 6 games he shouldnt have played I dont know whos choice it was for him to, but he is the reason they lost many of those games but you are changing your argument at everypoint first you say they were improved not because of him then you blame then not making the playoffs on him choose one or the other they were improved because of him and If you say they werent you are the dumbest person on the face of the earth.

I just dont think Brady is the best QB ever he is up there but not as good as Farve was or Manning. Farve at 40 is still a top ten QB prolly top 6 right now. Brady has never thrown a touchdown to win a big game I can recall when all the pressure was on him he failed. If it was a field goal to win the game he could pull it off. Montana won games, Farve won games, Manning won games, Aikman won games. I have a ton of respect for Brady but he won because of the team and the system watch how bad cassel is this year. How long till he gets benched? I like Big Ben and up to this year I have no given him his respect but he won games throughout the playoffs.

Big Ben
McNabb
Flacco
Delhomme
Palmer
Pennington
Warner
Collins
Eli Manning
I would take all of those guys not on your list over Favre, in that order. I would also like to add that I’d consider both Matt Schaub and Sage Rosenfels equal tradoffs for Favre.

Cutler is a joke

Response:
- I’m serious about Collins. He’s accurate, smart, and a reliable vet. He may not be able to throw it 50 yards down the field, but he kills with with what I call, “Death by a million paper cuts.”
- Same deal with Pennington, jsut not as good as Collins.
- I don’t care how much he played over the past 2 seasons. Is he injured now? Can he play now? he is a very good quarterback. It’s the organization that’s awful.
- Delhomme had one bad game in the playoffs. Everyone has bad games. He is otherwise an excellent quarterback. And he’s not unhealthy. He recovered from that Tommy John surgery a while ago.
- I have no idea what you are basing that on. Flacoo is an up-and-coming star in the league. And by the way, most QB’s aren’t that good without a lead. It’s not really a fair judge of who is better.
- I disagree. For how much I hate Dallas, Romo is at least a solid and consistant QB. I don’t really see any Favre-like traits in him.
- His attitude may be a joke, but Cutler is a great QB. You can’t honestly deny that.
I have to go to class now. Check in with you later.

I agree that all of those QB's have positives
The thing is none of them even deserve to be on the same page as the other QB’s mentioned. Palmer was a top QB a couple years ago but fell of before his iunjury. Farve has his issues and may be narcasistic but that does not take away from how good he is and how much better he can make the Vikings. I dont believe that hole would have been there the first play of the game against houston if sage was in the defense would have been playing differently. Look Farve was a great QB he is still good one no matter how he handled everything. It doesnt take away from what he can do on the feild. Only thing i think we would agree on is our Hatred for Brees I want to rank him last but I cant so I wont talk about him.

He is an Arrogant A**hole!!!!!!
As is Brady how many times have you heard ESPN replay his comments before the Super Bowl about how much they were gonna score and his snickering laugh afterwards. If that was say McNabb or Farve we would still hear it every day.
As previously stated u really streach on your arguments that team wins them games you flip flop Manning and Brady and what do you think would happen. There is no way in the world he could have led the Colts to the Record they have had over the past six years. Brady is a good QB but not elite. The team needs to play well to stay in the game on offense and defense to stay in a game. But doing it under pressure and having to score a winning TD is what I am talking about. Yeah he has lead his team down the feild to kick feild goals, but the real pressure doesnt fall on his shoulders at that moment its a much different situation knowing the game is tied and not having to win it.

I don't see how you can blame Favre bad play last year on his injury.
He was either well enough to play, or he wasn’t. They had backup quarterbacks. Favre played to keep his consecutive starts streak alive.
I watched alot of those games and most of those interceptions weren’t underthrown balls because of a bad shoulder. They were balls that shouldn’t be thrown because of coverage. His ego wrote checks that no quarterback would have been able to cash. It was problems with his head, not his arm. Jay Cutler does alot of the same things, and his arm is just fine.
I used to like Favre alot, but he threw away the Jets season (not that either Favre or I care about the Jets) last year. The good news is that he will probably get Brad Childress fired this year, which will be good for the health of Adrian Peterson.

I have to agree....
Your either healthy enough to play or your not. Blaming poor performance on an injury is a cop out. If your to injured to perform at a level that can help your team win you need to shut it down until you are healthy enough to perform at said level.
The one thing that has always irked me about Favre is his interception numbers. Most quarterbacks who have those kind of interception numbers get labeled as inaccurate or poor decision makers. Yet Favre is a “gunslinger” like its some badge of honor. Never understood that.

I have been spouting that for years!! I think Farvre is one of the most overrated players in NFL history!! He always gets a pass on his interception numbers!!! WTF!!! Mister iron man my arse!! I hate the term gunslinger for a QB…it is media spin that allows for poor decision making while at the same time building up a QB. There are others…Cutler, Delhome, and wasn’t Grossman considered a gunslinger? Farve can rot in a sack for all I care.
