Jacksonville Jaguars @ Indianapolis Colts, Second Half Open Thread

AT

Week One: Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0) at Indianapolis Colts (0-0)
Location: Lucas Oil Stadium; Indianapolis, IN
Kick-off Time: 1:00pm Eastern
Broadcast: CBS
SB Nation Co-Blog: Big Cat Country

Two promising drives for the Colts ended with turnovers inside the Jags 30. The Jags turned the second into a FG after a goal-to-go stand by the D. The Colts O finally converted on their 3rd drive with a Joseph Addai touchdown. In the following drive Jags two minute O drove down to the edge of FG range, a 46 yard attempt brought the Jags within one. A very solid Simpson return set up a 1 minute drill that died at midfield due to some tough catches not being hauled in followed by conservative play calling. A 63 yard FG attempt by Scobee to end the half fell short and right.

The Colts O is moving the ball well (Pat McAfee has appeared only once, to hold an extra point), but they need to avoid turnovers to keep converting those yards into points. On the defensive side the D is giving up yards but limiting the points. About all we can hope from a D missing Bob and Big Ed, with Marlin Jackson limited.

Anthony Gonzalez went down with a knee injury early on the 1st half. His return is questionable.

This is your second half open thread. Go Horse!

Repeat from last thread.

Ok, everybody breathe. They’re going to get out the NFL sized screwdriver and get everybody’s heads screwed on right and we are going to pull this one out!

I for one am going to bed (worked graveyard last night, working tonight too). Later all.

Gonzo Update

Gonzalez left Sunday’s game against Jacksonville in the first quarter with a right knee injury.

Advice: Gonzalez wasn’t touched on the play in which he was hurt. He started his route, then fell to the ground. He was helped off the field and put no pressure on the right leg. The Colts said his chances of returning are questionable.

Anyone else still watching the stream from the spanish Channel?

I figure it could be worse

Bend don’t break defense in full force today. Loving what I’ve seen of Powers today. Imagine if Jennings was in there. Not only would it have been a TD pass, but it probably would’ve been a penalty somewhere.

Two turnovers and we’re still leading. That’s the good news.

The defense is looking pretty good

but I know Freeney is pissed that he didn’t bring down Garrard though. Peyton and the boys really need to get into together. We should have at least 14 points by now.

The Colts play the Dolphins at 8:30 that same night. This will be the first portion of any Colts game I've missed since the Tampa Bay miracle back in 2003 when my mom made me go to bed with some 6 minutes left in the game. Man, I need a life...

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: My chemistry class decided to have their first test on Monday, September 21, from 8:00-9:00 PM. The Colts play the Dolphins at 8:30 that same night. This will be the first portion of any Colts game I've missed since the Tampa Bay miracle back in 2003 when my mom made me go to bed with some 6 minutes left in the game. I don't think I can be any more ticked off right now. I think I'm going to kill someone. No, really. I just haven't decided who yet.

Having Gonzo fit will spread things out for the passing game

But it seemed like we asked out TEs to do a lot of blocking. I think we still have some pretty big O-line issues.
