Hank Baskett??

Have heard the Colts may be interested in a vet receiver, depending on how long Gonzo will be out.  Baskett was just released by the Iggles today and has some good size (6'4) could be a decent weapon and is a solid special teamer.

Is Garcon ready to play full-time on the outside w/ Collie in the slot ( I don't believe he has the speed to play outside)? or should we sign a guy like Baskett?

This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors.

His contract is worth $1.50

and he’s in a contract year… I like him and he could help a lot but would Polian waste a pick on a guy who’s probably gonna be with us only one year?

what pick?

the guy is a free agent (or about to be), right?

How can you not love a team that does this?

I have a better question:

What’s the point in having a practice squad if we never use it? All the Colts need to do is put Taj Smith on the roster somehow and play some football. Taj knows the system and is already getting paid.

And what’s the difference between $1.5 million and 300k?

Btw, I’m almost positive that practice squad salary is $88,500 for 17 games not 40.

That’s at minimum.

Don't put a waiver claim on him

if he was going to get far enough down the waiver list he’d get to Indy then he’s probably making it all the way through.

It's not just your perceptions that can be wrong. Even your memory is often incomplete or possibly flat out wrong.

I'm not quite sure

but if Baskett’s a slot WR he wouldn’t work…Collie and Clark are our slots. What we “need” is an outside WR

Go Colts!

Besides,

Is Baskett better than Reggie Brown?

Baskett is an outside receiver and not a slot receiver.

He has speed, size, and good hands. I think he could be the receiver we were hoping Roy Hall would be. He’s not built like a TE like some would say Roy is, but he definitely has better hands. I would love the Colts to sign him though, because he is from my hometown. I met McNaab and Greg Lewis when Hank brought them to Clovis for a charity basketball game. I would be ecstatic if he brought any Colts players to NM haha.

You are from Clovis?

That is too funny. One of my best friends in the Air Force grew up there almost her whole life and her mom still lives there(She’s an Air Force brat). You wouldn’t happen to be around 27-28 would you?

Sure am haha

I wouldn’t say I’m too proud of it, but Clovis is home. I’m actually 20, so I probably wouldn’t know her. I’m sure she wasn’t a fan of being at Cannon though, most airmen I knew were understandably pretty disappointed to be stationed there. It’s not even an Air Force base anymore though, it’s currently transitioning to a Special Ops base.

I don't know....I'll have to call and ask her

She is stationed in Hawaii right now and is on a WAAAAAAAAYYY different sleep schedule, so I don’t get to talk to her much. I’ll get with her on it.

Her mom stayed there for some reason, even after she retired as a Senior Master Sergeant. It’s a shame you don’t know any Violettes(that’s her last name). I will always remember Clovis because of her.

Oh, and on topic, I’d fully be on board for signing Baskett if Gonzo is out more than 4 weeks. Though I hope his vapid girlfriend steers clear of Naptown.

If Baskett makes it past the Lions

then they’re idiots. At any rate, I doubt he’d fall to us.

greetings, from an iggles fan

I feel for your loss in gonzalez and hope his injury isn’t too serious. As for baskett, he’s a good player with great work ethic and he does what he’s asked to do. He has great size and soft hands with deceptive speed for his size.

But keep in mind he was cut from the team over other wr’s who were inactive for the first game.

Regardless, peyton is a master technician and will always find ways to win games. I’ve always respected this team a great amount from the way they play to the management. Wish the best of luck to the colts this season.

Thanks.

To you as well. And please tell Westbrook that my fantasy team is counting on him. You know, the next time you talk to him.

KR is on the money

Goe to the Practice Squad get Taj, and stay away from other teams castoffs. This is not the same situation as last year when they ran out of DT’s

Defense is more important than breathing.

yes

the Colts need to sign Baskett. With Gonzo out for a while Baskett would fit perfectly. But, I’m sure Polian won’t sign him and he’ll probably end up signning in New England or Tennessee then come back to hurt us. Come on, Bill. Go get him!!
