Hank Baskett Will Sign with Colts Today
Apparently (at least for some Stampede Blue commenters), dreams do come true. Adam Shefter reported around a half an hour ago from his Twitter page here, that the Colts will in fact sign Hank Baskett today. If this was anybody else reporting it, I would be skeptical of the accuracy of this scoop, but this is Adam Shefter. He has like a 95% accuracy rate with breaking news. Here is the exact text of his Tweet (That word still doesn't feel right):
Not that there was a doubt but Marvin Harrison will not be back with Colts. Indianapolis will sign former Eagles WR Hank Baskett today.
This means a couple of things:
1. Gonzo is going to be out for a while guys. If he was only going to be out from 2-4 weeks, we would have either just stuck with Collie and Garcon or brought Taj Smith off the practice squad.
2. All of you commenters can rejoice now that Bill Polian has (finally) signed a player that you guys actually wanted him to sign and have been talking about for the last 3 days.
By the way, tip to indyboys for leading me to the Shefter Tweet in the comments of a story.
[2:12 Update] Mike Chappell has now done some great reporting by circumventing the Colts (who still haven't said anything) and going straight to Baskett's agent to confirm the story. Read his story here. In doing this, the IndyStar became the first media place to actually confirm the signing. Good for them. They always get shortchanged by the Colts.
This is a FanPost and does not necessarily reflect the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors. It does reflect the views of this particular fan though, which is as important as the views of Stampede Blue's writers or editors.

It's not only you.
It happens to me sometimes too.

Man, I need a life...
Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: My chemistry class decided to have their first test on Monday, September 21, from 8:00-9:00 PM. The Colts play the Dolphins at 8:30 that same night. I don't think I can be any more ticked off right now. I think I'm going to kill someone. No, really. I just haven't decided who yet.
He's just reporting the Tweet.
There’s nothing new there (like a confirmation from the Colts).

patience...
it’s only 8 AM Eastern… not a whole lot happens this early.
but it’s a vote of confidence for the legitimacy of the story!
Ads bothering you?
If you’re not using Firefox, you should be. That’s lesson 1.
Lesson 2: go to tools, click add-ons, and search for adblock plus. Download it, sign up for the US, restart firefox. Enjoy. It’s the best addon for web browsing I’ve ever seen.
Thanks for the tip bamock.
That’s incredible. I have IE, Firefox, and Safari all on my computer (I use whichever one I feel like using that day), but I had never heard of the adblock thing. But wow, one click, and poof! Ads go away.
Thanks a lot for that. I’m going to have to make this my primary web browser now just for that.
Any other really good add-ons that I should use?

I think it' standard
but Firefox’s spell check is one of my favorite features.
It's not just your perceptions that can be wrong. Even your memory is often incomplete or possibly flat out wrong.

thanks bro
i have firefox at home, but im not sure about putting it on my work computer. there are a few people around who might get hot headed about me installing it on my laptop.
thanks for the tip on the adblock
it's called stumbleupon.
it’s not much more sophisticated than clicking a button that sends you to a pseudo-random site on the internet, based on interests and such.
Exciting!
It’s kind of rare to have something we say we’d “like to happen” actually happen.
So, no time to waste, here’s the next question as I see it: What does this mean for Collie and Garcon, and how much playing time they get this season?
Do you think that we’ll keep Baskett even after Gonzo returns?
i think if Baskett turns out to be a badass
they SHOULD keep him. if he turns out to be mediocre, than ship him out.
Baskett seems like an outside only guy
With Baskett on the outside, I’d be much more concerned for Garcon’s playing time when Gonzo gets healthy. Collie probably won’t see much difference, if any. The only thing I can think of is that if Baskett turns out to be MUCH better than Garcon, you’ll see some formations with Gonzo and Baskett out wide and Reggie and Dallas in the slots.
Oh, I almost forgot.
I’ve also notified Phil B, Paul K, and John Oehser of this. We should hear something from them very soon………

Don't forget about...
Hank’s smoking hot ex-playboy wife!!
If my memory serves me right – Hank is fast, but I’ve seen him make many drops on long passes. Can anyone confirm or deny that?
"Hank’s smoking hot ex-playboy wife!!"
oh yes that’s the story I’m REALLY interested in
How can you not love a team that does this?
Smoking hot is also very pregnant.
There goes all your fantasies!

Hank Baskett
An interview/ highlight video with Hank after the 2008 opener:
Inside the Eagles with Hank Baskett
This would have to be one of my top five sporting highlights of all time.
The Hank Baskett signing is a good and safe move for the Colts. Big receiver, good football player and seems to be a good character and locker room guy. Perhaps he can learn the system and become a big part of the team. I believe he is only played in Philly, so he really hasn’t played for a QB like Manning (no offense to Mcnabb, different style of QB). This could be a great breakout opportunity for Baskett and he could also help push Garcon and Collie.
