Around SBN: Jim Irsay: We Can Make It Work With Peyton Manning

A prayer from Denn to the football gods

Dear Football Gods,

Grateful are we for the Manning with which we have been blessed. While thy wisdom will never be questioned the strength of the men in whom you entrust our run defense I do question.

Star-divide

For we have been forsaken. And not by an illness unknown but by the plague that we have suffered in years past and while we have received a bounty of interior defensive lineman whose size suggests great things, we see not the results we had hoped. Give us strength lord. We wish not to see our pass rush ends whither and tire before their opportunity to succeed comes. And we wish not to see our fearless Manning but for a few brief moments before returning to watch a more physical offensive-line eat the clock he has worked so hard to harness. But let me not complain so, for we have still been blessed with an offense whose prowess is unmatched and whose success has brought us great things. Our fears may be realized but our hopes were too, for within a terrible struggle emerges victorious the reining MVP who has reminded all of us that despite their glaring faults it is not our defense who you must beat to win.

Amen,

      Denn

Translation, the short version.

Our D was bad.
They got tired and over heated.
Not enough Manning time on the field.
Miami’s offense was more physical.
But, don’t compain because our offense is unmatched.
Our spirit was tested, but the win was sweet because it was a struggle.
To beat the Colts, you must beat Peyton Manning.
WHEW! that was tough, but I think I got it right.

Ahh, the NILV

New Indy Lori Version. Much easier to grasp in the modern vernacular rather than the old Elizabethan style.

As Elvis would say,

Thank you, thank you very much, you’re beautiful!

Oops!

Maybe the language was more convoluted than I had hoped. But Indy Lori’s got it.
Thanks!

I'm a big fan of Shakespeare,

Your post reminded me of the type of style he used. Also used in the King James version of the Bible. I definately saw the humor you were using to relate your thoughts. Since no one commented on it, I figured I’d break it down and see if anyone noticed. I love this site!
