Well that game yesterday night was far from perfect (defensively anyway) but the Colts got the W and thats all that matters. Lets hope for a great performance this Sunday against the Cards. Now on with the five
.) I think the defense will not be as bad as they were last night. A big reason why they did so bad was because of the wildcat and all of its crazy movement and the extra blocker thats included. Does the D still need work? You bet. Tackling was an issue yesterday and that has to get cleaned up, but they did do a decent job when Miami simply ran convectional run plays.
.) I think Powers and Jackson need to get fully healed quick. Jennings was a mess out there last night reverting back to the old "ill give you ten yards as I back up 20 before the snap". Unless Jennings shows he can play as well as he did last year against the Steelers, we are in big trouble in the secondary.
.) I think the Colts can get the run game going again. Last night, the Colts backs both averaged over 4 YPC. The line was opening some nice holes for both Addai and Brown and both of them showed good burst and power once contacted. The only issue I had was a lack of running the ball, but that could be due to having limited time and possession.
.) I think Peyton Manning is making a case for a fourth MVP title. What he did last night was insane. Never have I seen a QB lead his team to victory with such little possession and little time. Once he gets the timing down and rhythm with Garcon and Collie I could see a huge spike in his numbers. Add the return of Gonzo, and Peyton might be able to compete with Bresse, stats wise.
.) I think despite the obvious flaws in the Colts defense, they are in very good shape as opposed to the rest of the league. It is obvious that Brady is still isn't 100% and thats to be expected. If Manning needed six weeks to come back from a less severe knee surgery, than it will at least take Brady that long to recover from his. The Ravens have problems on defense as well. The Jets, despite playing well, are still a little iffy on offense and the Steelers line still cant block.
