Week 3: Friday Injury Report
Dwight Freeney returned to practice and Clint Session stayed on the practice field for a second day, but Kelvin Hayden and Gary Brackett remained on the sidelines. Joe Addai and Marlin Jackson got days off.
Out: Bob Sanders, Anthony Gonzalez
Questionable (no practice): Gary Brackett, Kelvin Hayden
Questionable (some practice): Clint Session, Dwight Freeney
Oesher relays Caldwell's comments on the questionable players.
- “Gary’s still being worked on constantly,” ... adding that Brackett’s injury could be best described as a strain. “He’s getting better. It’s kind of a day-to-day thing.”
- Hayden “is still nursing” his hamstring injury, but added “he’s at a stage right now where he’s better I think than expected.”
- Freeney, listed late in the week with a back injury, returned to practice Friday. “He had a little bit of an issue, but he’s fine,
- Session has made “some progress.” “He did some limited things (Thursday), so we feel good about that,”
On the Cards side they are quite different of the Colts in how they use the report. While the Colts haven't meet an injury they didn't feel deserved at least questionable. The Cards list players with full participation across the board on their report and are big fans of the probable label.
Out: Kenny Iwebema
Questionable: Matt Ware (limited all week), Ali Highsmith (out Wed/Thurs, limited Fri), Levi Brown (limited all week), Rashad Johnson (new on report, limited Friday. Practice injury?), Steve Breaston (out Wed, limited Thurs/Fri), Chike Okeafor (out Wed, limited Thurs/Fri).
Probable (none missed practice time): Sean Morey, Kurt Warner, Antrel Rolle, Bryant McFadden, Brian St. Pierre, Reggie Wells, Anquan Boldin, Will Davis, Early Doucet

I'd consider Brackett out at this point.
With the comments, I expect him back next week vs. Seattle. I’m more hopeful on Hayden. If he practices tomorrow (a coin toss IMO), I think he will play Sunday. Otherwise, I don’t think he will.
I’m still hopeful about this game, but I’m already preparing myself for a possible loss. Severely lowering my expectations. By the way, the Colts losing Sunday isn’t the end of the world. If there’s one game on your schedule to lose, the nonconference-prime-time-road-game-against-a-vastly-underrated-team-directly-after-a-short-week-and-a-grueling-victory-that-pushes-you-to-1st-place-in-your-division-as-key-players-are-nursing-relatively-minor-injuries-because-your-defense-was-on-the-field-for-a-record-amount-of-time-in-a-winning-effort game is a pretty good choice of a game to lose.

Man, I need a life...
Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: I blazed through my test in 20 minutes and sprinted back to my room just as the MNF theme song ended. Good thing too, with that 1st play. So, my streak of seeing every minute of every game since 2003 Tampa still stands. So, my Chem TA lives (for now).

How many saturday practices do the Colts have?
There might be a waklthrough, but I’m pretty sure Friday is the last day of practice.

Maybe.
I thought they released another injury report on Saturday. I could be wrong.

last week the reports schedule was pushed back a day because the game was Monday Night
that might be what you’re thinking of
The number of ways you can fool yourself is just amazing.

Could be.
I might also be thinking of Phil B’s typical Saturday injury blog post.

I don't know either
but since it is a Sunday game, I am guessing that Saturday is the travel day unless they are doing that tonight.
I am prepared for a loss too, but I still expect the team to play well and win so I wouldn’t be shocked either way.

No! It's a not a good choice to lose.
We never want to lose on primetime TV. I’m preparing for a huge win. I want Peyton to build upon last week. And, I’m hoping Garcon breaks out with even more production tomorrow. And, the defense can only improve. So, I too, am hopeful!!! It’s primetime TV, we need to kick some serious ass!

I didn't say that I wanted the Colts to lose.
I never want them to lose, but I recognize that if the Colts lose this game (and they could), it won’t hurt them down the road. That’s all I meant.

I'm never prepared for a loss
And they won’t lose this week if Hayden and/or Brackett can play. The Cards are not that good.

I hope you're right.
This is one of those cases where my head and heart are disagreeing. Either way, I think the game is going to be close.

I guess this means Powers is playing, which should be a boost.
But if Hayden’s not playing, we’re back to where we were last week, likely with Jennings.

Hatden and Brackett both officially out
This sucks!!!!
by indyboys on Sep 26, 2009 8:15 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
sucks yes, but
few things to consider:
The colts have a lead in the division, and so, even though this sounds ridiculous in week 3, they control their destiny there (esp since Tenn and Jax both have 1 divisional loss already)
This is an NFC game, so its lower in the tie breaker for playoffs than divisional or AFC games.
No team is going undefeated (and by undefeated I mean 19-0, I mean, obviously, 18-0 is the hard part, but what bafoons would go 18-0 only to lose their last game? I digress) so I’d rather lose the ones that are: on the road on a weird road trip, short week, exhausted defense, banged up, etc… I mean Manning would have to be “Holy Shit” Manning to pull this one out, not just HOF Manning

Agreed.
I’ve been saying recently that you chose a game on this schedule to lose, this one is a pretty good choice. It’s not even a home game.
