Garcon the great at number 2
Ok this might be a little premature. What if we use Garcon as our fulltime Z WR and then use Anthony Gonzalez as our slot were he can flourish along with our offense too. I believe that it would make this teams offense even more dangerous considering 1 play scoring potential. I know Dallas Clark plays slot also but hey what about four wide sets where a conerback lined on Clark? +1. I am not forgetting about "AC freeze" aka Austin Collie he can rotate along with the rest of of reciever corp. Many options 1 ball what do you think?

Probably is a bit premature...
Gonzo still has more experience than Garcon, and has already shown flashes of brilliance (his first two years are actually statistically more impressive than Reggie’s). I’d say we have amazing depth at WR, and that gives us flexibility.
Sure, gonzo’s great out of the slot, but let’s not forget that Reggie gives defenses fits when he lines up there. Garcon is interesting because he apparently hasn’t shown as much flexibility to play in the slot, while Reggie, Gonzo and even Collie can. I’m not shortchanging Garcon, I think he’s really stepped up (been a fan of his since we drafted him). Just don’t think he’s ready to start full time.

I like Garcon in the slot
Bigger, maybe faster, and dishes out punishment on the defense.

But......
I like him outside too. However you like it, it appears we have mucho talent catching the ball.

Garcon's still finding his feet
As Gonzalez will be when he returns from his injury. I think we’ll find ways to get him involved later if he continues to make plays.

A little premature on Garcon
Garcon definitely shows some potential, but I still like Gonzalez’s hands better. I’d run Reggie down one side, Garcon down the other side and Gonzalez up the middle for the long ball. Then run Dallas Clark for a short and up the middle or a short side play. Or use Garcon in an option type play like they did against the Cardinals. For short yardage, I’d throw Collie in to help Clark out.

I think he has really improved his stock on the team
He has now had 2 big plays in his first 2 starts, along with other good catches last night. Manning If you think about, this team is gonna have a hard time finding touches for everyone when Gonzo gets back. Thats a good problem to have. Wayne, Gonzalez, Clark, Garcon, and Collie. And Baskett is a good player to have waiting. Garcon and Collie might not have alot of experience yet, but I can remember a time when the Colts had this much depth at WR.

Harrison - Wayne - Stokley
Is still the gold standard, IMO.

Toss in Clark.
Now a proud annoyance on Stampede Blue, 18to88, Indy Football Report, and Phil B's blog.

Random fact of the week from the empty void that is my mind: The Atlanta Falcons are the only NFL team to never have back-to-back winning seasons in franchise history.

Obviously that was a better group of 3
I’m referring to the depth. For example, if Harrison or Wayne got hurt they would not have had as much talent to fill in. Its nice that even though the #2 receiver is out we can all still be very confident with the guys running 3 wide with Clark at TE

Definitely starting to come around on Garcon...
He’s big, he’s strong, he’s fast, but the thing I’m really staring to like about him most is his mean streak. I can’t remember a time that the Colts had a decent receiver that would manhandle dudes the way he does. He might be on his way to getting him one of those Hines Ward-type reputations. Defenders won’t want to line up across from him not because of his receiving threat, but because they will fear the punishment he doles out.

Garcon has been great,
but I would rather have Gonzo on the field in the 2 TE sets. I feel like when he’s healthy he should be an every down receiver. So I’d like to see Gonzalez outside when there are only two WR’s on the field and in the slot with 3WR’s.

I actually like this idea..
People are quick to point out that Gonzo this and Gonzo that…however the guy hasn’t really proven anything to anyone at this point. Look, I like Gonzo, and was glad the Colts drafted him. However, I like him in the slot more than I like him on the outside.
The truth is that sometimes players simply have to get on the field to truly show how well they can play. Look at Tom Brady, Matt Cassell, even Tony freakin Romo… those guys all sat behind other guys because of how good those players were, or simply because they didnt practice all that well. Look at what those guys have done as starters.
Point here is that Garcon has played quite well in 3 games this year. Is he ready to be named the #2 starter? Not yet, but if his play keeps up and he’s performing like this the remainder of the year, I think you have no choice but to move him into the starting lineup. People are so quick to forget that Gonzo was drafted to fill the void left by Stokely, not be Harrison’s replacement. Garcon fits that mold far better, and if he’s getting the constant reps at that role with Manning, he’ll become the guy we need there.
Gonzo is a talented WR, and I think he has a very good servicable career in the NFL. I don’t think he’ll ever be a true starter in the sense of being a true #1 or true #2, but the guy has proven he can play.
However, I like the Colts situation right now with how Garcon and Wayne line up. Both are deep play threats, and imagine having Gonzo, Garcon, Wayne, and Clark lined up on the same field at the same time. Brings back memories of 2004 with Clark, Harrison, Stokely, and Wayne…
Garcon is the Colts best option at the #2 position, and he’s finally showing it to us all. However, he needs to keep doing it. Being a flash in the pan is easy, doing it all year long, much different.
