Dwight Freeney is tough
When they say he is a fast healer, they aren't joking. Freeney says he is "day-to-day" with a strained quad and that he won't rule himself out for the Seattle game. I doubt he plays on Sunday, but I would not be surprised if we see him against the Titans. He is the anti-Bob Sanders when it comes to injuries.

Damn
I just saw this and posted a fanshot about this before I saw you had it up. I assume he sits it out. I have had strained muscles multiple times and I remember thinking I could play full speed after a few days of rest, but then I tried and realized it doesn’t work that way. Of course Freeney is 100x the athlete I was a few years back, is probably a much quicker healer, and I’m pretty sure a professional football training staff for a top-tier team is a little better at their job than a high school training staff…..still, I hope he doesn’t take an unneccessary risk.

I am merely a soccer coach
and I struggled to do that for a few days this summer after straining my quad. Its possible to play with it. It just REALLY hurts. That is with a mild strain of course. I can’t imagine what it would feel like with anything worse.

We all saw how much of a fast healer he was
with his Lisfranc injury. He was ready to go by training camp when experts doubted he’d be the same all year. He ended up being stone-cold amazing all year. He also hasn’t missed any other games by memory (Someone correct me if I’m wrong.).
But even though he won’t rule himself out, I still say there’s a 0% chance he plays Sunday. He has to stay off his feet and out of practice until Thursday and Friday for the strained quad to heal properly.
Tennessee is another story. Depending on the severity of his Grade 1 strain, he could be like 80-90% on that day as I predicted and want to play, but the question is, with the bye week the week after, would the coaches and Polian overrule Freeney in favor of getting him to 100% for St. Louis and beyond and negate risk of further injury?
Knowing the tendencies over the years with Polian and injuries, I still say they hold him out.

By the way,
this is still great news even though I don’t think it changes everything. Freeney has the right attitude with the injury and is feeling good. This seriously diminishes the odds of the injury lingering and randomly keeping Freeney out of a future game.

he needs to sit
no way he will be 100% for the seahawks game, and if it tries to play on it, chances are he’ll injure it again…i’d rather have him out for the seahawks game and 100% for the titans game than at 75% or less for both games

I certainly hope he stays out
Do we really need him to rush Seneca Wallace?
How can you not love a team that does this?
by LovinBlue on Sep 30, 2009 2:36 PM EDT reply actions 0 recs
exactly what i was thinking
hopefully Wallace will just run himself into some sacks. that way we wont need #93 out there straining himself.

Well atleast Freeney and Sanders will return around the same time
it will like Christmas. But i don’t know how long it will take Bob to get back into his normal role when he is healthy. Seeing how he has missed so many games and training camp. It might be the end of the season before we see the regular Bob. which leads me to believe that offenses might exploit the return of Bob Sanders when he lines up at safety.

Bob
Does anyone even know what is “wrong” with him anymore? I mean, does he really even have an “injury” still?
The Miami game and probably the Titans game are the only games where I would rather have Bob than Bullitt. Bullitt is a better pass defender (IMO) and I like having him roaming around the secondary when playing teams that try to go downfield. Sanders is a killer run supporter, but it doesn’t bother me anymore that he doesn’t play because Bullitt continues to get better and Bethea is playing very well so far this year also.

Apparently,
the multiple surgeries and down time caused his quadriceps muscle to atrophy (weaken over time from non-use). He has to spend a lot of his time strengthening it until the doctors/trainers are satisfied. Phil B expects him back for the Titans game, and he’s usually right with this sort of thing.

maybe they will work him in slowly
like they are doing with Marlin Jackson. Didnt someone make the comment that they were going to “platoon” him with bullitt?

No, no I don't get it...
What exactly were you trying to say? Let me rack my brains…. wasn’t Shaft the black private dick who was a sex machine for all the chicks? (what awesome lyrics) I just can’t remember any more and Google is, uh, broken. Yeah, that’s it—I can’t find out any other way.
So you’ll have to finish what you started.
Oh, and the weekly meeting of the Freeney Fan Club will commence now, online. Everyone please extend your middle fingers toward Julius Peppers… good, good, and then Phoenix. Any new business? No? Great. Meeting adjourned. I’ll get the minutes out via email before our next “meeting” in ten minutes.

As much as he gets held, im surprised this is the first time he’s been hurt. The Arizona linemen must be extra good at the holding.

don't know if this should be a fan post or not, but
From John Oesher: Hayden is all but out for this weekend (straight from HIS mouth). And (this is my reading between the lines from Oesher’s quotes) from the sounds of it Freeney, Brackett, Sanders, and Hayden are all out this sunday.

That's fine.
Seattle isn’t much of a threat, and even if we somehow lose, it won’t mean much. This is a good game to rest everybody.

I agree
I prefer to have everyone back for the Titans game since it’s a divisional game.

Yep
If we have to lose, I’d rather it be a out-of-conference game not in primetime. =-)

Your talking about losing?
![]()
screw that! the media would have a field day. Knock off the former NFC Champs and lose to the Seahawks who don’t even have their starting QB. Are you kidding me? the Colts better win.
