Manning is top QB according to Sporting News NFL
Manning is rated the number one quarterback in the league according to Sporting News NFL. Did anyone else happen to see this? Manning was rated number one and Brady was number two. If someone else has already commented on this, forgive me please. It's nice to see that the greatest QB in the league is getting his proper recognition. The Steeler's Troy Palomalu was quoted as saying that Peyton got number one because he carries the whole team on his shoulders.

Actually,
the article rated the top 100 players in the NFL. The first two spots just happen to be QBs.

Palomalu is an idiot.
I hate people who say we have a crap team its just Peyton that carries us. I mean yeah hes the best QB in the league, and obviously helps the team more then any other one player on the team, but we have a very good team, not just a very good QB.

I used to agree with you BUT lately i think its mostly Manning
The reason i say this is that if you look at the recent colts players who were great or good and got traded to a team didnt do so well. Look at Edge, Rhodes (was let go by Oakland…. really and now cut by the bills), Pollard, Harrison (teams figure if manning cant make him look good…. He’s probably done) . I think these players look very appealing to other teams because Manning makes them look good but when they join other teams…. they are not that impressive. These players a strugling to find/keep a job but could very well still be starters for the Colts.
We all saw how mediocre this team can look without a healthy manning. Without manning we probably win 2 games last year at most…. Its manning who makes this thing work with the help of a lot of great players but he made them great.
Last year we realized that Brady is a good player who thrives in an already great system and Manning is the system who other players thrive around.

Sometimes Peyton carries the team,
Other times they’ve carried him. Remember the Browns game from last year? Peyton had an awful game, that win was all defense. Also the Houston game where Brackett got his touchdown. Our defense turned that around, or I guess you could say Rosenfels turned it around.

I disagree
Manning can throw, thats all. He cant make interceptions, he cant run the ball, he cant run block, he cant get sacks, he cant cover anyone as a DB, he cant kick field goals, he cant kick punts.
We have the best player in the most important position, but he doesnt make our defence 11th in YPG last season

What about the bears game? I
Except manning all of our starters were healthy… we even had Sanders and Ed Johnson… yet we lost to a pretty horrible team at home under coach Dungy.
Why just the bears game… look at the first few weeks… last time i checked the offense still had Addai, Harrison, Wayne, Clark, Gonzales for those games yet we struggled… a lot. So our starters (Freeney, Mathis, Bracket, Hayden, Sanders, Bathea, Addai, Clark, Wayne, Harrison, Gonzales) without a healthy Manning were able to win us 2 (Texans game and Ravens game…though manning won us that) out of the first 7 games…
Dont get me wrong, I LOVE OUR TEAM (Manning is not even my favortie player) but after last year i realized how important he is to this team.

Polomalu's statement
I don’t think Palomalu’s statement was meant to be negative. If you really think about it, Manning does carry the team in a number of ways. I don’t mean from a sense of how well he plays. What I’m referring to is when the team stumbles on a game he’s the one that prods the team to get their game together. He’s the one that prods them to work hard like no other. He leads by example. He studies the game harder and more in depth than probably any other player in the game. He is meticulous. Yeah, he can play great. But he carries the team by being the role model for what they have to do behind the scenes to win games. It’s usually the team that works the hardest and is the most hungry for the win that wins. There’s hardly no person that is hungrier to win than Peyton Manning and he shows it year after year.

Michael Irvin thinks Manning is second
… to Phillip Rivers… NFL Network has lost it utterly..

And that's why I don't watch NFL Access.
Michael Irvin, Deion Sanders, and Jamie Dukes have no right talking about football. Just because you were a pro-athlete doesn’t make you an “expert”.

Marshall Faulk is about the only
good one left on that show since Adam Shefter sold his soul to ESPN.

I'm sure the logic was impeccable.
It's not just your perceptions that can be wrong. Even your memory is often incomplete or possibly flat out wrong.

I like nfl network : (
But they have some real idiots on there. Mike Maycock comes to mind.

I think Mayock is one of the better TALENT analysts out there
That does not however, mean he calls games well.

I agree with Polamalu
He’s not saying that the rest of the team blows , what he is saying is that Manning is the best player in the NFL because he can overcome a bad running game and a bad defense and win the game just by throwing the ball. Manning is statistically better than Brady...
…everywhere but the most important stat – winning percentage. When it comes to leading his team to victory – Brady is unmatched in NFL history.
Tom Brady wins over 80% of his starts, in both the regular season and the playoffs. Peyton Manning carries a respectable .665 regular season percentage but, a dismal .467 in the playoffs. Whereas Brady excels in the post season, winning the big game is certainly not Manning’s forte.

Right,
because quarterbacks are solely responsible for whether a team wins or loses. They should have all of the glory when the team, oh excuse me, when the quarterback, and should have all the blame when the team, oh there I go again, when the quarterback loses.
You are completely right.

That's a bad way to compare QB's
because the most vital statistic you overlook is that top 5 defense that the Patriots had in the 4 year run of 3 SB wins…. they were in the top 5 in takeaways, sacks, and points allowed virtually every year.
Brad Johnson, Trent Dilfer, Eli Manning – all 2nd Tier QB’s who won a SB ring on the backs of their DEFENSE.
Brady does not now, nor has he ever carried the Patriots. Brady throws for 50 TDS in a single season, yet he’s still in the game up 28pts throwing bombs to the end zone to Randy Moss…
Brady is a quality QB, but Brady is not Peyton’s equal…..
This is the whole Dan Marino vs. John Elway arguement, and we all know who is the better QB there…

Brady?
Brady? come on now really? along with Big Ben i get so tired of the comparison! The only comment i have is if you took brady and put him on the colts and stuck manning on the pats the patriots when a championship and brady cant do very much with out his loaded team! Matt Cassel proved last year all ya had to do was lob it to moss and ya win games! Brady is strictly a product of a great system, where you can plug anyone in and make it work! NO COMPARISON TO BE MADE!
