Glad we kept Painter
Before the draft I was hoping we’d pick him. I was very glad when we did and even happier now that he’s one of the 53, he’ll be an asset.
As a Hawkeye fan I was scared to death when he came on the field. He drew plenty of Hawkeye blood in 2007 and then he nearly beat the Hawks again last year on nothing but two-minute drills. It was after that game I knew I wanted him on the Colts.

I think he'll be a decent quarterback at the professional level
Whether he gets an opportunity to start a game is a question none of us can answer right now. I hope, for the Colts sake, it’s not for a long time, for us or for anyone else – unless we’re able to get some value for him in trading to another team, but even that is unlikely anywhere in the near future.
Anyway, people knocked him in college for a number of reasons, but honestly I think that the talent around him was significantly lower than many other college quarterbacks. The best 3 receivers he had in college were Dustin Keller (Jets TE), Dorian Bryant (didn’t make the Steelers last year as an UDFA – not in the NFL now) and Greg Orton (didn’t make the Bengals this year as an UDFA. His skills are there, his intelligence is there, his experience and his chemistry we’re working on this year.
